I need to develop a VB program that will display a large image (like 3000x3000 pixels) in a scrollable window. On the image there will be icons (about 1500), and I would like to have some of them (like 500) animated (in fixed positions but changing images, like animated GIFs do) Portions of the background will change occasionally (under the icons), but not very often, like once every minute or so. Another thing I would like to have is a lot (1000?) small points traveling around the image, like single pixels following pre-defined paths. All this is way beyond Visual Basic's capability, I think, and I was thinking of having a custom control developed, maybe in C and maybe using DirectX. This would leave my VB program very simple to change and isolated from the graphical part, where life is harder.. So, the bid is for this component / portion of program. I am not sure about DirectX, as I would like to have this image scrolling into a standard VB form, which (i think is not feasible) Please find attached a more detailed description. ================================================ A small clarification. From the feedback I got from bidders, I realized that there have been some mis-understandings on a few important points. 1) the map is an actual bitmap, (a REAL geographical map) not a tiled map made with pre-defined blocks. 2) Also, I emphasize that the grid is hexagonal. This might cause some increased trouble, (hexagons of adjacent cells, when re-drawn, 3) As per roads level, where I said "There will be about 100 roads on the map, with about 1.000 vehicles driving at the same moment" I meant a total of about 1.000, NOT about 1.000 for each road.
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Windows 95 and up. Might accept limitations on NT.
## Deadline information
The delivery deadline of 12/15/2002 is for the final product, we will need "work-in-progress" deliveries to be able to develop our part of the software too.
