We want a site designed with the latest available version of Drupal. This website will provide anatomy drawing content and will offer hundreds of anatomy products. These sections will need to interact with each other so related products from the store will appear as discribed, when the visitor is viewing the free content. Please view the include html files and detail description to get a better idea of the project. We will be supply the images, descriptions, prices, etc. of the products in a database format provided to us by our supplier. We will also need to add miscellaneous products from other vendors. We would like to implemental some visual and functional components of [login to view URL] into the store except where noted. We will also require several modules to be chosen (and possibly written or edited) and installed. Since dozens of Drupal modules are being released every day, we need someone willing to do their homework in choosing the best solutions for our needs. We need a coder who is willing to work with us throughout the developmental process, finding solutions to issues we have not yet even recognized. Full description and concept pages included. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). * * *This broadcast message was sent to all bidders on Friday Aug 10, 2007 7:12:07 PM: Here are replies to two coders questions. Please be aware of these when posting your bid. Please let me know if you have already placed a bid and need to change it based on these notes. Thank you for your bids. Answers to Coder (A) Questions: Section 1.2 The ‘hyperlinks to outside pages on our server’ is explained in 2.2.2 under product description. Out of the thousand or so products we will offer there will a handful of products that we would like to link to external files including html files (eg: html slide show of screen shots, Flash presentation, javascript quote calculator) and executable files (downloadable software demos) we can upload separately. I am guessing this can be done with URLs to the absolute location on our server. Will we be able to link back to the original product page if we implement clean URLs in Drupal? The content section (2.1.4) will have a completely different field set than the store section (2.2.4). Even within the Store section, the books (from a separate vender and database) will have a different field set than the other products. For example, I want the ‘table of contents’ field to appear on many of the book descriptions, but not on the posters or anatomy models Am I to understand these different datasets (field sets) can reside in a single database? So I understand when I ask for the product database from my supplier, we will not need to worry if they are not running a technology other than Mysql because Drupal can recognize most database formats. Is that right? Regarding the search engines, we have noticed our current web site, [login to view URL], which is purely html, rates much better in Google searches than our competitors who use dynamic web sites. I was concerned web bots would be able to index this new anatomy website, but after reading your reply, it sounds like this will not be a problem. Is that right? Most all products in our store section will be shipped directly from the publisher. We would however make high resolution images in our content section available for sale, via download to our visitors. Since Drupal 6 will not be fully mature until later, as you have described, please do not include a future upgrade in your bid. Please do keep in mind when designing our site, the new features of Drupal 6, which have been finalized and are available for review on the internet. It is my hope that your being aware of Drupal’s new features during the construction of our site may make our future upgrade less painful. Section 1.3 The first option sounds the simplest but the thumbnails on the Content section may be different than the store section. The other issue is on the content section, some images more square, others are long vertically, and yet others are long horizontally, but they all need to appear on a grid in thumbnail view. We may need to see if the standardized solution will be able to adequately resemble the standard view. This is may even be an issue in displaying the standardized view in the detail section (2.1.4). In addition, most of the content images are line drawings. Some of the images are still in TIFF format and others are in GIF. I can convert all of the TIFF to GIF. With the GIF images some are set to 8 indexed Greys, others to 4 greys, and other black and white. They are all of varying resolutions, some too large for the screen (high resolution). If we use a solution other than Photoshop, I need any automated resizing; including thumbnail generation to resample bi-cubically (like in Photoshop) otherwise they will look horrible, and are not representative of the quality of the drawing. In other words, I want the high resolution black and white images to render in grayscale when they are resized. In anycase. Please include some experimental tweaking in our bid. I understand our supplier will provide the product images on CD-ROM along with the database for the store section. I will provide the images for the content section. More content images will be added later (including the high resolution images for sale). So we will need training to add new ‘records’ and images as mentioned. The computer screen video animation you mentioned sounds reasonable. You proposed the visitor buys access to the high resolution content, for an annual licensing fee, for example. Alternatively, would it be easy to require payment for each specific high resolution image they want to download, so this feature would be priced per image instead by membership access? Also, understand a significant number, but not all images will be available in a higher resolution format. Section 1.5 I’m of the old school. I only know html and a little bit of Javascript. Just one look at [login to view URL] and you can tell I am stuck in the 1990’s and know nothing about modern design. We need you to create the look and color theme of our site. We have no other templates other than the html files you downloaded displaying the basic layout of the main pages. Did you see those concept pages? One folder contains the store and the other the content section. If you suggest we need to use a third party theme solution, along with your bid, please let us know if there will be and additional cost for this, and the approximate price range to obtain a third part solution. Section 2.0.1 I’m not sure about tag clouds. I only discovered Drupal a few months ago and read about it online. I’m guessing you’re referring to the ability to assign multiple categories (flat or hierarchal) to a record instead of just one as in Joomla? Section 7.0 I had read the Drupal shopping solution was still buggy, requiring a lot of php patchwork. I do not know of Amember Pro. Does this require additional cost? A couple of issues that may or may not be an issue is method of calculating shipping and the support of variations of a product. International shipping may be based on the total cost of the order whereas domestic shipping will be based on product weight. Also some many posters are available in three different formats (paper, laminated, or plastic) with varying prices depending on the format chosen. Section 8.0 That’s good news. In Closing… It is very reassuring you seem to know what you are talking about. If you do not believe the issues I presented to be a problem and you are prepared to make your bid now, you may certainly wait to answer my questions until after I have hired you, unless there is any other issue (such as additional costs) we need to discuss before you can make your bid, just let me know. Answers to coder B questions: Section 2.4 Are those sizes predetermined or they are stretch? The width of the side menus are a set width, we would set this width depending on the width of their content; width of left menu and width of thumbnails in right column. Obviously there will be a very small white space, or small margin, for aesthetics. If it looks better, the right and left margin could be the same width, but still this would be dependant upon the width of the widest content of the two columns. I am sorry the html files included do not show this effect when resizing the browser window, but just imagine the right and left columns remaining the same width, while the middle body gets wider. As the middle body gets wider additional columns of graphics will appear in the body. Eliminates need for vertical scrolling Good point. It would seem the best solution it to set the minimum height to the approximate content height of the left menu. I imagine this would be a predetermined pixel height. This would be estimate liberally, considering the fonts sizes on peoples browser (particularly the left menu) may vary depending on their browser and browser settings. I see this is not a perfect solution, so please consider alternative solutions to enhance the site usability. Likewise, since the minimum column width is 2, the content will overflow to the right if the user browser window is smaller than what is to accompany the minimum column width plus the right and lift fixed width, requiring them to scroll to the right as is standard. Assume you are talking about stretch setup. As above when the user stretches their browser window, additional column are added to fill the white space. This can be done with or without a page reload. As mentioned we want to know how much of your bid is to implement this customized solution. If this it is too expensive we can consider the user setting the number of body columns by clicking on icons to the side like [login to view URL] does. web-form I think is the solution Web form sounds like the best solution. Assume you are going to add those products manually via a web form to the site's store section Can we upload multiple products all at once through a database upload? If this is possible, what format would the secondary database need to be converted to? phpMyAdmin But better to have custom script with web forms. Otherwise it is easy to screw up site… Please include the custom script solution in your bid. No need to answer my questions no unless it will change this bid. Please make your bid official if you have not already done so. Thanks, James ## Platform Drupal, Php, and MySQL All major browsers
