I've wasted too much time on this today. I need to link a remote SQL server, so that I can run commands on it.
My syntax is.....
sp_addlinkedserver N'sm', ' ', N'SQLOLEDB', N'[url removed, login to view]'
exec sp_addlinkedsrvlogin 'sm', 'false', 'sa', 'sa', 'password'
which executes ok, but when i do
SELECT TOP 10 * FROM [url removed, login to view]
Server: Msg 7302, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Could not create an instance of OLE DB provider 'SQLOLEDB'.
OLE DB error trace [Non-interface error: CoCreate of DSO for SQLOLEDB returned 0x80004002].
I can give terminal server access to the local SQL server
