ONLY HIGHLY RATED PROVIDERS WILL BE CONSIDERED - I HAVE ALREADY EXPERIENCED DISAPPOINTMENT ON THIS SITE ONCE, AND AM NOW TRYING AGAIN ONE MORE TIME - PLEASE ONLY BID FOR THE NUMBER OF DAYS IT WILL TAKE YOU TO _FINISH_ THE PROJECT, NOT LESS SIMPLY TO ATTRACT ATTENTION!
I want a web designer/programmer to create the following site:
At its core, it is a sort of CNN + [url removed, login to view] + facebook/myspace/tagworld.
The site will be called Make it News! (a URL has been secured), and the idea is that upon logging in each member will be able to see links and snippets of all the news that they are most interested in, because each piece will have been directly sent to them by someone in their social network. The belief here is that no one can give you the news you are most interested in better than the friends who know you best.
A friend of mine has already built a social network similar to Facebook, which could be used as the background social network software.
The news delivered to each user could be compiled however you think would be most effective, but my personal suggestion is a bookmark in the field under the browser's address bar which can read the current page, open a popup that will allow a user to input the article's title, source, a short description of the article with tag-ability, and lastly who to pass it along to (individuals, user-compiled groups of individuals, or everyone). This information would subsequently appear on the front news page of any person who is a friend of the "Newsmaker" (poster) or a subscriber to his feed.
Another feature of the site would be the ability of users to create their own stuff, sort of like one-time blog posts, but with the idea being to share the "news" of, for instance, new baby pictures, a party on Saturday, or the fact that a user has tickets for Tuesday's Knicks game. The idea here is that every piece of information is "News" to someone, be it family, a limited group of friends, your fraternity brothers, or everyone in your entire friend network.
If you think you can build this service on top of a very well-built php social network (think facebook), I anxiously await your bid!
