Roof Builder

Roof Builder will be a carpenters and contractors tool for calculating the length of every possible roof support component. It should also have a weight calculator perhaps through the "Tools" menu. The weight calculator would have pounds per lineal foot, and or KG per lineal foot of the specific material entered by the user. The program would simply, by multiplication, calculate the total weight of the piece of lumber. It should also be able to calculate for plywood weight. User would enter either the weight per square foot Pounds/KGrams, or the weight per sheet.

The main part of the program would calculate the length of any Hip beams, Valley beams, Hip and Valley Jack Rafters, Common Rafters, Ridges, and most likely a few more. The program will let the user enter his building width and length, the spacing between each beam, etc. all dimensions required to make the calculations. It should also have a place for the user to enter the tail length of the beam or rafter. The results should be based upon the beams width and the buildings span, or distance from bearing point to bearing point. The results should give the user dimensions from various points of the beam or rafter when possible. For instance with a rafter, the dimensions should be the overall from the tail, to the long point, or tip of the rafter. Also it should give the rafters length from the apex of the seat cut to both the bottom and top of the plumb cut. Triangulation calculations should work with this. I'm a carpenter/building contractor, and will assist you when ever possible with the program. The program must also include a graphic of the beam or rafter in question, with the various dimensions included. They probably shouldn't be included all at once, but perhaps the user may click on certain buttons, etc for different points of measurement. The program should also provide a cut list with the drawing, and its dimensions, plus a list of how many beams or rafters, etc. We can go over specifics when you contact me. Most of these dimensions and more can be found in the rafter books.

Also, I need a duplicate program included which will work on various mobile devices.

Included is a sketch of the various dimension points of a common rafter.
