We are in need of a reciprocal links management system. Most of the software out there does EXACTLY what we need it to, however it was only meant to manage one website. We need something that will be administered from one location and be able to show links pages on up to a few hundred sites else ware. If someone can modify existing software to do what we need it to that is fine. Below I'll try to describe our needs as best I can. Here we go...
**BASIC OVERVIEW ///////////////////////////////////** 1 admin section 1 database for all sites unlimited installed domains which may be located on a server other than the one that has the admin section. Admin can add/edit/delete websites that will have a links page admin can check for reciprocal link on any sub domain site from the 1 admin section sub domain site only shows links from it's own category must have sub category options user can sign up to have a reciprocal link on each site separately without ever going to main site Once completed the idea would be fairly simple to setup a new site: 1) go to the admin section and create the site data (i.e. [url removed, login to view]) 2) setup several linking options the user will see on the site that they can use to link to your site. Like a text link, a small button link, and a banner link. 3) setup the basic link categories for that domain (i.e. "small widget links", "big widget links", "old widget links" ETC.) 3) upload a copy of the front end pages to the domain you just setup ([url removed, login to view]) 4) setup any basic variables that are needed ( home folder path, domain name ETC.) 5) DONE!
[url removed, login to view] <<< Has the main software installed and is the admin controller for all sites below [url removed, login to view] <<< Has links front end installed [url removed, login to view] <<< Has links front end installed [url removed, login to view] <<< Has links front end installed
**FRONT END DETAILS ///////////////////////////////////** [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view]: All domains above will have a folder called "resources" which is the front end to the program. This folder should have 3 pages that the user will see: [url removed, login to view] The actual links page. It lists all links in the main section as well as all sub categories for that site. On the left it will list all available sub categories, on the right it will list the available links for that sub category. [url removed, login to view] The sign up page, should be a form they fill out with all info needed (i.e. website title, domain name, site description, reciprocal links page, optional logo path, email address ETC.) after completed will forward them to [url removed, login to view] [url removed, login to view] A thank you page with a list of options on how they can link to us. (i.e. a text link, a small banner, a large banner ETC.) These items will be controlled via the central admin section.
**ADMIN SECTION DETAILS ///////////////////////////////////** Several sections with administration tools for the program Should have the following sections: website add/remove page This will be where you can setup the database side of a domain it will be installed on (i.e. [url removed, login to view]) website editing page This is where you will be able to add/delete/edit categories for a site (i.e. [url removed, login to view]) check links page This will be where you can check all links either on all sites or selectively to make sure they are reciprocal if they should be and if the page we are linking to is still valid if not it will generate a list of sites/links where there are problems, should be options next to each to the editing page for that particular site so it can be easily fixed/deleted. Should also be a link that would email the user stating that their link is no longer valid if that is the case. request a link page This will basically be an email form with templates the admin can select from to email other websites and ask them to exchange links with our site. should have a drop down list of email templates to choose from email templates editor This will be the editor for creating/editing/deleting the email templates for the above page I'm sure I am missing some details here but these are the general requirements for this application. As I mentioned if there is already software that can do most all of this and you just have to make some tweaks that is great! We just need to end up with a working solution. Thanks very much for reading.
Should work with the following: Redhat Linux 9 Redhat Enterprise 3.0 ES Fedora Core 1+ PHP 4.3.2 Mysql [url removed, login to view] Top 90% of web browsers.
