Allow individual frames within YouTube videos to be saved as images. Solution needs to work in a web browser and use pure HTML/Javascript (no Flash). GUI should be basic, easy to use, customisable and compatible with all browsers including iOS (iPhone, iPad etc.)
_Details_
Rough steps involved:
1. User enters the URL of an existing YouTube video
2. Video is displayed showing play, pause, single frame back/forward buttons. Current time within the clip and total length are also shown (tenths of a second accuracy)
3. In addition there is a movable pointer which shows the current position within the clip. The user can slide this pointer left/right and 'scrub' through the entire video till they get to the point they want
4. Once the rough position is obtained in the video the user can use the single frame back/forward buttons or cursor keys to advance one frame a time to get the exact single frame they require
5. User presses a button which saves a JPG version of that frame to the file server
It is critical that the user interface be clean, simple to use and customisable. Functionality is the most important thing here, not design. A designer will take this output and make it look good but the facility to change the look easily must be there.
