I'm looking for help writting a perl script I can run in my cgi-bin that can receive info from my credit card processor ([url removed, login to view], paypal, or kagi - I'm not sure which, though [url removed, login to view] seems to have the best documentation and ease of use for this type of thing for a newbie like myself). The program will get called, generate a keycode based on an algorythm discussed below, and send the code back as described at [url removed, login to view] I've attached a file with this info that may be easier to read and follow. I also will likely need help implementing this in my cgi-bin (or at least well commented instructions). The algorythm needs to take the business name (e.g., Aber Company, Inc.) and pull the first letter from the first word (e.g., A) then turn it into the corresponding number of the alphabet (e.g., A = 01, B = 02,...Z = 26). Lets call this $firstNo. Next we take the second letter of the name (e.g., b) and turn it into a number (e.g., 02) and call this $secondNo. The code generator will then take the $secondNo and multiply it by 123 (e.g., 246). I want the keycode to come out like this: "246016000D0102" In other words, a concated string starting with ($secondNo X 123) concated with $firstNo (in a 2 digit format - 01 for 1) concated with the number "6000" then concated with the letter D then concated with the current date (mmyy format). This then gets sent back as described at [url removed, login to view], in other words between the values 24601D0102 . And finally, if possible, save the information to a mysql database on my end to include: date, business name, address, email, and of course the key. I don't really know how easy or hard this will be, as I do more in VB and php, but in those languages it doesn't seem all that difficult (my ISP is unix and is set up to run perl only).
