Website Script

Split Testing Script RFP This project is for the creation of a website split-testing script (A/B Testing Script) The purpose of the script is give webmasters the ability to test the effectiveness of different versions of a webpage. This is accomplished by dividing all visitors to a specific URL evenly among a specified set of 2 (or more) webpages. The re-direct should be "seamless" - and not noticed by the visitor. The program can be CGI (php/perl) or JavaScript. This script must: --> Easy for a novice to install (either with an install wizard or *simple* instructions) --> Run either in the webpage or on a Linux Server --> Use a web based control panel for URL configuration --> Allow the split testing of up to 5 different files per URL --> Allow the split testing of multiple URLs --> Allow traffic to be evenly divided in a sequential pattern FOR EXAMPLE: Visitor 1 will be re-directed to test page 1 Visitor 2 will be re-directed to test page 2 Visitor 3 will be re-directed to test page 1 Visitor 4 will be re-directed to test page 2 Visitor 5 will be re-directed to test page 1 Visitor 6 will be re-directed to test page 2 Visitor 7 will be re-directed to test page 1 Visitor 8 will be re-directed to test page 2 --> Allow traffic to be evenly divided in a random pattern FOR EXAMPLE: Visitor 1 will be re-directed to test page 1 Visitor 2 will be re-directed to test page 1 Visitor 3 will be re-directed to test page 2 Visitor 4 will be re-directed to test page 1 Visitor 5 will be re-directed to test page 2 Visitor 6 will be re-directed to test page 2 Visitor 7 will be re-directed to test page 1 Visitor 8 will be re-directed to test page 2 (The selection of the test page is random, but the total amount of times that each page is displayed is equal) --> Track the total number of Unique Visitors --> Track the number of unique re-directs to each specific page --> Display all tracking results in a web based control panel (more design direction to be provided) --> Display tracking results in a numerical and graphical format (bar graph) --> Define the beginning and end of a test

## Deliverables

DESCRIPTION CONTINUED

--> Retain & Display previous test results

--> Easily Back up & Restore previous test results tracking results

--> Export all tracking info into a CSV file

--> Record user comments for each tracking test

--> Automatically calculate the statistical confidence intervals see [url removed, login to view] (but this version would need to calculate the info automatically and not require people to re-type the info)

Additional Requirements:

--> Ability to track the sales conversion. This is done by placing a special image on the "thank you" that connects each unique visitor with a sale.

--> Record and display conversion information in a web based format

For each test page show a graph of 2 bars and a percentage. The First Bar will show the total unique visits to each test page. The second bar will show total sales for that test page. Finally there will be a conversion percentage also displayed (total sales / unique visitors).

The 2 bars and the conversion percentage will be show for each test page.

--> Allow traffic to be non-evenly divided in a sequential pattern - instead the traffic will be divided based on a weight or percentage specified by the end user

Therefore a user can designate a specific percentage for each test page. For example. If you say that test page 1 gets 70% and test page 2 gets 30% then:

Visitor 1 will be re-directed to test page 1

Visitor 2 will be re-directed to test page 1

Visitor 3 will be re-directed to test page 1

Visitor 4 will be re-directed to test page 2

Visitor 5 will be re-directed to test page 1

Visitor 6 will be re-directed to test page 1

Visitor 7 will be re-directed to test page 1

Visitor 8 will be re-directed to test page 2

Visitor 9 will be re-directed to test page 1

Visitor 10 will be re-directed to test page 2

Thus 7 visitors go to page 1 and 3 visitors go to page 2.

This needs to be able to handle different percentages for up to 5 different test pages.

--> Set Cookies on a users machine to insure that they always see the same version of a page (if still available -- if not send then to the "control")

DELIVERABLES:

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows? (depending on the nature? of the deliverables):

a)? For web sites or? other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software? installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).

Deliverables:

-- Flow chart of program logic

-- Fully commented source code

-- Fully Functional & Operational Program

-- All exclusive rights for future use of the program and it's source code

## Platform

THIS SCRIPT MUST NOT: -- Require the use of a backend database -- Need the help of a system admin to install Alternatively, the program can be an web based or executable "generator" created to run on any windows PC or Linux Server. (see [url removed, login to view] for an example of a good "generator" for pop-overs) The "Generator Version" would have to accept 2 versions of a full html file and - generate the final page (html & javascript) that any novice can replace with their normal webpage -- in addition to the above listed criteria. Specify when bidding if you are creating a CGI based or webpage based script
