I have an HTML website + a PHP script that I purchased that implements Affiliate Marketing.
The system is functioning, but the company that sold me the script is just AWFUL in their support/customer service.? It is as though we are putting messages in bottles, and throwing the bottles into the ocean in order to communicate.?
I am fed up with them, and their lack of attention and real-time collaboration to get the job finshed (even though I paid them to do the "integration") ? but the PHP system IS designed to do what I want, and it's appearance is fine.? What little I know about programming, I know about ASP.net/VB.net, and NOT PHP.? So, I need help doing this, because? I DO want to finish the interface so it looks like I want it to look.
I need to:
1.? Get an explanation of the overall operation of the system.? I think I "get it", but I need to be briefed on it to be sure.
2.? I want to test the system to be sure it IS operating as expected.
3.? I need to set up a CRON job for backups and periodic reporting, and, although my host (GoDaddy) does support CRON, I don't know how to set it up.
4.? I need to set up the links, banner ads, etc that the system allows me to offer to affiliates, along with making sure the included email works with the kind of return address I want on it (i.e. not GoDaddy's secureserver yadayadayada, but my own email return address).
5.? I need to modify 2 of the interface elements.? The publisher of the script did the integration, but at the time, the website they were integrating with was a template site.? Now that I have pretty much finished the main site, I need to change the graphics that appear at the interface between the website and the PHP-created Affiliate website.?
6.? I want an inspection of the PHP script to be sure the company I got it from has not introduced any kind of 'back door' access to the site.
In general, since the PHP script is already designed to do what I want, I am primarily concerned with 'tweaking & testing'.? However, I don't want to take the time? to learn PHP and the intricacies of working with dynamically-generated websites (as I assume the PHP is doing, since I can't seem to locate any relevant HTML pages), rather than plain old HTML and asp.net, as I am accustomed to dealing with.
## Deliverables
I guess the preceeding is a long way of saying that I want to refine the interface between the PHP site and my main site to look like I want it to work, do some links, banner ads, etc., and test the site's overall operation.
?
Unlike most affiliate programs, Affiliates come to one site, but they don't buy anything.? They sign up, then? get paid for referring luxury home buyers, and the buyers get directed to a different (non-affiliate) real estate site. Just like the Affiliate links identify the referring Affilate when they come to the affiliate site by using a cookie, I need for the Affiliates to be able to easily forward a link to the buyers they are referring, so I can associate the buyer with the affiliate who sent him/her when the buyer comes to the real estate site.? The PHP is already set up to do this, it appears, because it has to do pretty much this for buyers in the typical affiliate program.?
Since I purchased the license for the PHP, my understanding is that I can replace the company's logo, etc. with my own.? I want to do this, too.
The PHP script is published by JROX, incase you want to know this.
