We decided to not transfer over the whole site to another external server, but to again upgrade our conversion process. We need the On2's Flix Engine installed on our Windows server. The process of video conversion should be identical to the way is now so that I may easily modify it myself later. (For example, the conversion should take place in one file and upload to the S3 in the same file which will be activated by the cron and convert or upload the videos by selecting them from the MySQL database. Hopefully the S3 code in the cron file will stay the same).
This way the conversion process will be as follows, the way it is right now (The steps 1, 2, the first part of 3, and 4 shouldn't change at all):
1. User uploads video.
2. Video is converted to mov if it is a avi or wmv so that it converted correctly and then the video transferred to the only conversion server (only one since we are paying for only one with On2).
3. Conversion server looks to see if it has received the video yet in the video folder and if it has, it starts the conversion and places the finalized file into flvideo.
4. The conversion server checks to see if the conversion is complete, and if it is, uploads the finalized flv to S3.
I am currently waiting on you to accept this project to purchase the Flix Engine. I know that we agreed on $500 for the installation of the demo, so the finalized version should be the same price.
