I just need some simple fixes, and additions done to my existing OsCommerce site. Take a look here, http://www.bernardjensen.com. I will give a more detailed description once I decide on the person for the job. Thanks!
You will notice that the file structure on the server is a little messy/messed up. I was wondering what it would take, or if it was worth it, to clean up the site. I think it might be causing some problems with SEO due to the fact that there are broken links in weird places. I would do this myself, but I don't want to run the risk of deleting files I might actually need. This is where you come in, seeing as you know the system better than I do.
We have been running into this problem for a little while now. It seems that the state of "Alabama" is assigned to the shipping and contact info of customers. (please see attached documents). I've done some research on this and some testing on my own, and it seems that it might just be user error. If enter an incorrect state, or you leave the "state/province" field blank, then it by default loads the state drop down menu.... which "Alabama" is the first choice. So, I'm thinking, they don't notice there was an error, and they just try to submit again,.... which just gives them Alabama.
Solution: Make it so the state drop down is default.
Issue: People order from all over the world, so if they can't enter anything but a US state, that causes a problem.
Issue: This is really messing up shipping, as well as California sales tax, when it should be applied, and its not.
See this page, search for "Alabama" - Someone else with the issue.
• PRODUCT SORT ORDER:
Homepage not changing based on "New Products? category order.... still showing in alphabetical.
SALES TAX - CHARGED ON SHIPPING:
For some reason, when someone in California is ordering... it is charging sales tax to the shipping costs as well as to each product. See order ID: 153 for an example.
EMAIL/NAME FORM FOR E-BOOK:
Please see attached seminars3.php.html file. It has a simple CAPTCHA form with: NAME & EMAIL. Once the user completes the form, they will be sent to the success page, where they can download the e-book. There is some java script and some PHP in this file and in the success page as well. If you know of a better, easier way to do this, please let me know.
Success Page: (CSS and layout of normal site) (currently is "seminars.php")
