I am building a cross platform application that will change the way professor and students interact in the lecture hall and bridge the gap between student and instructor. This application will have two components to it. The first component being a chat room where students can ask instructors questions live. The second component will aim to replace the iClicker. It will be an application inside the application where professors can post a multiple choice question and let the students choose from a selection of A,B,C,D or E. The first component of the application will work like a chatroom where students and instructors will sign in to the "classroom". At this time, the students can ask questions live and the instructor will answer them in class. The students will remain anonymous. This will help improve classroom engagement and making sure that more introverted students have a chance to participate. In addition to that, other students will be able to vote up a question if they have the same question or vote down a question if the question is spam. The application will have special accounts for teachers. Teaching assistants have the same options as the professors/instructors. Instructors can see which students ask which questions while the students can not. Students have their own separate accounts. The second component of the app works a lot like the iClicker works. Instructors can upload images or write a question or draw a diagram problem for the students to solve. Then the students answer the question through 5 buttons (A,B,C,D,E). This application will work cross platform (iOS, Android). I would also like there to be a web version of it so students/instructors without phones can use this application as well.
