I need a moodle 2 module designed that will provide students with the ability to select a beginning and an end date and then will provide a timeline of when assignments/quizzes will be due.
The module will calculate the total marks of the course, and determine the percentage of mark each assignment is worth. Then the module would base the amount of time each assignment will take based on the mark calculated.
So an assignment that is worth 5% of the 120 hour course will be calculated as taking 6 hours of time.
Variables: The administrator should be able to set the
total length of the course (120 hours as default)
the length of time permitted to work on the course each day. .5-12 hours
the days allowed to work on the course (weekends, weekdays, all)
Students should have rights to change the dates of the timeline, and set the hours of work in the day (limited by the amount of time that the administrator has set - if the administrator has set the max workday at 3 hours, then the student's options would only be .5, 1,1.5,2, 2.5, 3.
They should be able to set the number of days of work on the course (again limited by what the administrator has chosen.
One of the challenges will be pulling the lessons and quizzes and assignments into the timeline in the correct order. A moodle activity report places these in the correct order, so we may be able to pull this information into the timeline module.
The timeline could simply list any activity that is worth marks, or it could also list all activities with the understanding that all ungraded activities before a graded assignment need to be completed. (Thus an assignment that the timeline determines is 6 hours in length incorporates the readings and practice that leads up to the assignment.)
The timeline would then check as completed when an assignment quiz is submitted, and highlighted with the mark when it is assessed.
This timeline should be able to be printed in a pdf when a students chooses.
