We have a php script that dynamically creates a landing page with Flowplayer embedded, that will choose a video format to serve based on viewer's device/bandwidth as described below.
The script needs to determine the best video format to play when someone clicks a URL to come to the landing page. Criteria for the choice can include the script's detection of device type (ios/non-ios), form factor (tablet, smartphone, desktop), browser and version (firefox, ie, chrome, safari, etc) so we can offer a video version optimized for streaming (flash) or progressive download (MP4, h264).
Any device/browser that doesn't support webkit/html5 will get a flash video (IE8 and lower, Firefox)
If an ipad, will have an .m3u extension and get mp4
Others will get mp4
Our preference is to find someone who already has done this kind of work and has a script ready to reuse with minor modification or can modify our existing PHP script. Our script can provide a good head start but isn't performing perfectly: is generating double plays in Chrome and IE, and is not generating video for IE 64 or iphone 3gs
- You must have good php skills
- Experience with device/browser detection scripts and video player apis
- Strongly desired; someone who has already done a similar script
