My company requires a new e-commerce site. We are switching hosting companies because our previous hosting company destroyed my site and no one seems to be able to fix it, not without charging us a lot of money. As a result, we have decided to just build a new site from scratch on the new server. Please read the list of requirements before you post. If you just give us a copy-pasted 'we can do this!' response we will not even consider you, don't waste your time or ours, please.
The budget for this site is not for more than $650, if you list anything over this amount, please be ready to provide a list of qualifying reasons in front of the board of directors on an msn messenger meeting. If you can find a reason for justifying a $750 price tag, and if you can satisfy the board of directors, that's awesome. Odds are not great though.
*We require categories, and two or more levels of subcategories, an example is listed below-

Etc, etc. If you include support for a third level of sub-categoy, that would be great but not required. We do need to have at least two degrees of subcategory though.
*1- We require an admin panel for updating the site's content. Use of an admin panel is pretty standard, but we felt that we needed to include it so that there were no surprises.
*2- We require a few advertising spots on the pages... we would suggest a few banner style ads on every page that rotate from a database that we can maintain with the admin panel. The main page should also have a couple of button style ads, smaller than banner ads that we can list and again change via the admin panel. The ability to use the admin panel to change and update these ads is paramount.
*3- We require the ability to change out our logos and other pics easily... included in the admin panel would be best, but if it were fairly simple our sales department could probably handle it. Have an idea for how you would approach this.
*4- We will use GetAFreelancer for payment. Use of escrow is required, not optional. We will provide the entire agreed upon amount in escrow when you begin work, or within a couple of days. We will not release any of the amount through escrow until the site is on our servers, tested, and functional, at which point we release the entire amount. We had an issue with a GAF provider last year where they uploaded our site to our server and not even the homepage would load and they wanted payment. This does not fly.
*5- We require that you provide support for the site for at least 3 months after the site is there, in case our staff runs into questions or problems, we need them to be able to contact you and reach a resolution. If you are unwilling to support your work, we aren't interested in doing business with you.
*We would like to ask you to handle the configuration of another application when the site is installed, it's PHP based software that deals with affiliate management. This is not required, but if you can do it that will boost your chances of getting this job. The install isn't long or necessarily difficult, I handled it myself on another website and I had it functional in about an hour.
*This step is not required but is highly desirable. The ability to use this site as a template to run a second site would be a deal winner for you. If we can duplicate the site and create a second domain, this would undoubtedly be worth $750 to my company (provided you also fill the other requirements,) as this would enable us to set up shop with a different hosting company in the future if we desire. As part of this, you would have to be able to explain to us how to move the site to another hosting company.
*6- We require the ability to set up discount codes, coupons, etc. Again, this is fairly standard, but we felt the need to include it in the list. The ability to use codes that only affect certain categories of product would be a major bargaining point for you. (In the example above, having a Discount#34 code that gives a discount on only Russian battleships.) If you can't do that part, go ahead and bid on the job but let us know whether you can or can't do it.
*We strongly recommend that this job be done within about 21 days of starting work, but as long as you provide open communication about what is going on, we will understand if it takes a little longer.
*7- Communication is paramount. Because of this, we require someone who is online during afternoon and evening hours MST... We will show preference to US based individuals and companies because we support US workers, but if you happen to be overseas, you must be able and willing to be online and available during OUR hours of operation... afternoons and evenings Mountain Standard Time, or GMT -07:00. We will not stay up until 2 AM just to talk to you, we have a business to run.
*8- We do our transactions through paypal, so we require that paypal be integrated into the site.
Finally... you may use any shopping cart software you like, provided we don't have to pay for it. So if you have a favorite cart that you like to work with, feel free to use it! Also, we will be looking to create another site in the near future, if you do well and you impress the board of directors for our company, we will secure your services for our next project and skip GAF entirely.
