I wrote an Excel workbook to track details of our client's LANs and think this needs to get moved to access or another database (I'd prefer access since I have access 2003, but am iopen to other apps).
I am looking for a better way to record data about a network and then recall it / edit it / print it later.
right now, I'd print out the cabling and netwrok 1 spreadsheets (with blank info), hand write the data concerning the client's site then come back into the office and in a new column of cable data and network data, record the info (so I hand write the cable info horizontally, then in the spreadsheet, every few rows make up a single line in the cabling report, etc).
When I need to print the data for a specific company, I go too the network data spreadhseet, chose the client I want to get the report on in cell D4, then print out cabling and network 1 pages.
I need a better way to manage that data and update the layouts of the network 1 page (cabling page is pretty well set layout wise. but like to have an easier / better way to manipulate the data. and I'd like to be able to add fields I think of later / realize I need, without expensive rewrites ( I know a little bit of acess.
