We currently have a static html website, design circa 1998 - [url removed, login to view] We have one WP blog associated with it - [url removed, login to view] They are hosted on a GoDaddy shared server.
We want to transition the main website to a second WP blog in order to make website updates easy for staff and to benefit from some content management features available from WP.
Our intent is to have all future content of the PDA website integrated into the content management system (CMS), with the possible exception of PDF versions of publications. This will require an optional page/post format wherein we can efficiently publish our publications which include (beyond simple text) tables, graphs, footnotes and (internally linked) tables of content. Such publication pages will have subject matter tags and will be linked to by publication blurb posts collected by the categories function in WordPress (see following paragraph.)
We also intend to post individually what we now call "publication blurbs". These consist of publication citation material, a brief description, and a links to the html and the pdf versions of the publication. These blurb posts will be indexed by the Categories function in the WordPress CMS, so that, for instance, all publications addressing U.S. defense policy can be found in one archive category called "U.S. Defense Policy".
We will want the homepage to present a category we will call "Featured" in the center column of a 3 column theme. This will consist of blurb posts linking to featured publications. Thus the presentation on the homepage will be similar to our current PDA homepage.
We would employ your talents to help us plan this transition, deal with GoDaddy support around any issues of hosting two WP blogs on their server (or optionally manage the transition of our sites to a different web host provider), and help us make sure the implementation goes as seamlessly as possible.
