Hello and happy day!
The purpose of this project is to adjust the color palette of Obox’s “Causal” Wordpress theme, add a custom background, create a version of that new background to upload/use on Twitter as well, and modify a logo according to specifications in this document.
This project especially requires the ability to create a great color palette.
A screenshot of the current look of the site is at [url removed, login to view] (The site, [url removed, login to view], is password protected because it's still under development.)
The color palette of the Wordpress template is to be inspired by the colors of the hummingbird image shown at [url removed, login to view] The eps vector file for this image can be downloaded at [url removed, login to view]
The new, text-only logo is to look like the mockup at [url removed, login to view] Recreate this logo using the “Bauhaus 93” font. For the red, use the red in the left wing of the mockingbird. For the purple color of the dot between “joy” and “net” use the purple color from the hummingbird’s beak. The “beta beta beta” phrase and the tagline in the current logo are to be dropped.
The goal is to create a Twitter-like background similar to the one shown at [url removed, login to view], i.e., with only a few graphic elements in the empty space to the left of the main content column.
If the browser window size is too small for the empty space to appear, then the background’s graphical elements should be obscured by the main content column, similar to the Twitter example shown at [url removed, login to view]
This might require “boxing” that main content column the way it is done in the Twitter example. See [url removed, login to view] for what I’m talking about.
As one graphical element to be used in the background, use the stylized lotus flower designated as 1 on [url removed, login to view] An EPS vector graphic of this image can be downloaded at [url removed, login to view]
To this image of a lotus flower add the humming bird image, seemingly flying in from left to right.
A rough mockup of the background concept is shown at [url removed, login to view]
Also add four clouds in the style of the Twitter example background at [url removed, login to view] Emulate the different shades used for the clouds in the Twitter example.
Color adjustments to Wordpress template
The colors of the current Wordpress template (based on Obox’ “Casual” design) is to be modified to be in harmony with the colors of the mocking bird and lotus flower.
The screenshot at [url removed, login to view] shows the following template elements whose color needs to be adjusted: 1) the header background and footer background (latter not shown in screenshot); 2) the “date circle,” including mouse-over state; 3) the “pencil circle,” including mouse-over state 4) the mouse-over color for nav links in the header; 5) the sidebar divider lines, 6) the link color and the mouseover link color. And the background color of the whole site (maybe white, maybe a different color; please experiment).
Use the colors in the hummingbird. For a first attempt, use your own best judgment for which of its colors to use as an accent color, and which ones to use for the header/footer, etc. You don’t have to use every single of its colors, i.e., you may use only, say, three of them.
Arriving at the final palette will probably require 3-4 iterations.
Your suggestions to improve on these specification are welcome.
I'm looking to finish this project very quickly, and I'm looking forward to working with you.
I posted a wrong URL for the example of the Twitter-like background to emulate. The correct URL is: http://cpix.org/2012-04-09_10-23-24.png
