We run a website that lists all searchable travel offers you can find on eBay. This website shows listings from all international eBay markets and it provides a price estimation for auctions. Further we have integrated a painted map in order to make it easier for the user to find a hotel in the region he wants to travel to.
Now we want to replace our map images against GoogleMaps and furthermore, we want to improve our website in several points. The tasks are as following:
Replace our painted map images against GoogleMaps.
Find the geo-coordinates for appr. 750 given addresses and update the database.
Do some design corrections. We will tell you exactly what we want. This is not a lot of work.
Improve the usability by integrating multilanguality. Identify the country of a user from his IP address, choose his language and centre the Google map on his country.
Optimise the website usability by adding Ajax technologies.
Optimise the website performance. Perhaps it makes sense to store all listings completely in HTML code. Don't care about storage or hardware. Speed is more important.
Let the search engines read and indicate the content of our website. We don't want to reach Google's top places when a user types in some particular words like "hotel" and "London". Instead we want Google to show our website when a user types in a part of the original text of our website.
a. Targeted website: [url removed, login to view]
b. The website is developed in PHP (we would accept Java as well) and based on a MySQL database. This database is filled and updated automatically as a mirror of our system. You will get a complete copy as a testing system.
c. Of course we expect a script documentation incl. an UML diagram.
