[url removed, login to view] an XML markup language suitable for storing student marks on their degree programme. The marks will all be stored in a single XML document and should contain a means of uniquely identifying each student, their full name, the name of their degree programme, and the year which they began their degree. For each student and for each course they take you should record the marks for that course, the type of the assessment the mark is for (e.g. essay, project, dissertation, exam) and whether the mark is for a group project or an individual mark. In the case of group projects you should list the other students involved.

You should write a DTD or XML Schema to specify the markup language and provide an example document which will validate against your DTD or XML Schema.

Higher marks will be given to markup languages most suited to the purpose of storing student marks, more precisely specified markup languages and example documents that demonstrate the full range of the markup language.

[url removed, login to view] a web-application using JSP or Java Servlets which, when requested, will present the client with a randomly-generated anagram of a source word randomly drawn from a small (between 5 and 10 words) built-in dictionary of words of your choosing. The user should be provided with a text-box to guess what they think is the correct source word. Use JavaScript to check at client-side that the user's guess is of the correct length before submitting it to the server. If the guess is correct then inform the user that it is and provide a new anagram. Otherwise inform the user that it isn't, give the correct source word and provide a new anagram. In either case, keep count of the number of correct and incorrect guesses the user has recently made and display this to the user.
