I have an old script that I designed with someone's help.
He no longer works as a web designer/script writer.
The script went to 100 different news sites and fetched the top stories(title, link, snip of first paragraph).
To trigger the script I simply type in a page URL.
That retrieved info is then put into a database.
The resulting page is categorized and displayed with news items in each category.
It works very well. It does exactly what I want and it does it super fast.
I don't want the script changed.
Over time, websites that we are parsing data from have changed.
If the code searched for what's between (table and /table or p and /p) tags before, it might be different now.
I need someone to do the legwork:
Go to these 100 sites and fix what I'm searching for.
You'll have to look into their source code and change tags in my script to match.
For an experienced coder, I believe this is very easy. However, it will take some time to go look at all these sites.
VERY FEW are RSS feeds and that's a fine shortcut to take but only on occasion.
I could make an RSS parser myself or download one of thousands on the web.
This is a very nice script that I don't want converted to an RSS parser either.
I would GUESS that 20 of the 100 still work fine.
This is my fourth project posted here in like two weeks. I'm particular.
Please don't bother spamming me nor telling me you'd like to learn.
Best of luck to those types, but for this I need someone whom has made spider parsing fetching scripts before.
I want to say "here's the script, see how it works, go" and the designer will take over from there.
