I am developing software for picture framers using web technologies. This software needs to be able to have some 'panes' or mini screens with thumbnails on containing galleries of either pictures, frames (moldings) or mount boards. I am struggling with the graphical user interface that allows the users to drag elements from the panes onto a main window and compile a picture from their selection. Multiple boards can be used (up to 5) and multiple moldings can also be used (up to 5). When a picture is framed, it often has special mount boards surrounding it. Imagine a rectangle surrounding the artwork. More boards can be used around that. (concentric rectangles surrounding the original.) The distance on each side should be able to be changed and should not have to be symmetrical, but that would be default behaviour. I thought that XML would probably be the most efficient way to do what I need so that I can integrate it with the rest of my asp / html. I would like the user to be able to select an item from one of the galleries or panes and once selected that item will have a border highlighting that fact. Then when the user drags the item from the pane to the main window there should ideally be some indication that the user is actually dragging something. Maybe the border can move with the cursor until the cursor is released. As the picture is compiled or framed in the main window, it will retain it's proportion but be resized so that it can be viewed as a whole at all times. A frame should have a set width as well as the mounting boards width and the picture width. The values should all remain in proportion to reflect a true image of the finished piece. The user should also be able select say the second board of three boards surrounding the picture and then when an element is dragged onto the main window it will be placed on the outside of the selected element in the main window. Most importantly, frames themselves are most often textured. So a rotation and mirroring of the image will be necessary. A length of frame molding will almost always have a definite inner edge and outer edge. The corners are VERY important and are a large part of the skill of framing. The pattern needs to match up as the two edges meet. It is important that the module reflects this.
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
## Platform
Web technologies. Preferably XML but I am open to suggestions.
## Deadline information
Would like a demo by 24 January.
