Template Mongers and Not-So-Serious "just to open a conversation bidders" need not apply! If we wanted a template, we'd spin one into service ourselves...
The site: [url removed, login to view] is hosted on a Linux Red Hat Server with PHP / MySQL installed. We are not interested in Windows / ASP. We like our host, so don't try to switch us.

We're not a corporation and we don't want our front end to look like one! The current site design and navigational concept is intentional. It may be fine tuned to be easier and faster for people to navigate, but we're not looking for "Corporate Slick" or slow loading Flash. "Mom & Pop" / extremely functional is just fine with us. We're not looking to copy the look of our competitors, we are interested in automating the inventory details and order processing options.
OScommerce is installed and is "all right" in terms of function, it can be tweaked to fit our needs or removed and replaced with something better if the price is right.
Three basic product types:
Diamonds - individual items, sold once (unless returned) with details, clarity photographs, and descriptions changing for each item every time. Product details are extensive, see [url removed, login to view] and subsequent diamond details pages like [url removed, login to view] which are essentially template pages with custom descriptions added to describe the inclusions on each stone. Every one of the fields listed on our Private Reserve is necessary. We want the option of adding a "comments" field beneath any diamond as seen on the Private Reserve - underneath - not to the side, if you can't do it, don't bid.
Jewelry Items - some one of a kind items, but usually re-ordered for stock. Actually more detailed than the Private Reserve listing because jewelry items can have several types of accent stones with multiple categories for clarity, color, etc.
Misc. Add On's - we want the basic functions of a standard shopping cart available in case we decide to sell "widgets" at some point in the future.
We accept payment by Wire Transfer and Credit Card with a discount applied to the Credit Card price if the customer pays by wire transfer, this function must be available for our customers. Upon check out, in response to the payment option selected the customer must be presented with the appropriate set of instructions for making payment. Credit card payment will be accepted on-line via a gateway (this will be installed by the credit card authorization company - already secured) and then a credit card authorization form will be provided for the client to sign and submit to our office via fax.
Upon arrangement of payment, the product must be removed from inventory, but we must retain the option of returning the product to inventory with the click of a button if the customer fails to provide funds.
Need the ability for a custom search engine to (1) evaluate our inventory and (2) to scan the inventory of our suppliers. Option one is paramount and to be implimented immediately, option two is being considered. Our inventory is to be displayed as it currently is on our Private Reserve as indicated previously and searchable for those people who prefer to "mine diamonds" via a search option box.
Okay, so the product is listed, the product has been selected and the payment has been made. Present us with the documents to process the order without redundant data entry... The client's information should be added to our database so that we can send them a thank you note and a newsletter... The sales receipt should be printed in triplicate along with copies of the lab report, proportions analysis, retail appraisal for insurance purposes and the Fed Ex airbill.
An inventory tracking system is needed both in-store and on-line and hey, they're intertwined, so the shopping cart should be able to do it all except that in-store purchases should be handled via a bar code system with the option for us to enter the clients information off of our desktop.
All discussions pertaining to the development of this site is considered to be proprietary beyond what has been discussed here. Any development paid for by us for use on our site may not be re-sold to any member of the jewelry or diamonds industry. Non-disclosure agreement required.
