PHP form that users can search my database with, returning results formatted in HTML.

I would like the code for the following requirements, where I can edit the HTML output of the search results.

Background information:

I created a database with PHPMyAdmin, which has three tables:

Merchants

Issues (foreign key MerchantID to Merchants > MerchantID)

Updates (foreign key IssueID to Issues > IssueID)

There can't be an issue without a merchant, and there can't be an update without an issue. I hope that this database structure reflects this intention. Please advise if this structure does not enable you to code for the requirements below. I have attached a screenshot of my database structure ([url removed, login to view]).

Desired usage/output:

A user enters a search term and submits it, which is queried using LIKE against the Merchants table, and the Name field. The query should be protected from SQL injection. If a user enters HTML, and there's a risk that it'll break the script or breach the security of the script/database, take measures against this. Otherwise, don't.

The search term must be at least one or more characters in length and be alphanumeric - if not, echo "I'm sorry, you've entered an invalid search term. Please enter at least one letter or number to search the database correctly."

If no records match a (valid) search term, echo "I'm sorry, your search term does not match a record in the database. If you are aware of an issue that you feel should be included in the database of known issues, please report this using the contact form - the issue will be reviewed and if necessary the database will be updated accordingly."

Assuming that the search returns a result(s), the desired output is shown in the attached screenshot (in this case, the user searched for the term "clean" - see [url removed, login to view]).

I'd like all dates that are pulled from the database to be displayed in UK format DD/MM/YY. Dates are DealDate, IssueDate, UpdateDate.

I need the script to check the value of the Merchants table, Privacy field - if "To:", make the text colour blue, if "Bcc:" make the text colour red.

I've tried to cobble this together using tutorials and asked in forums but have not found a solution to my requirements that way, so I'm here throwing money at it. This is for my work's benefit, they're not paying me but once it's done maybe they'll throw some money my way. In the meantime it's out my pocket, so hopefully we can come to a reasonable price :)
