Pallet Program Re-Write Requirements
To re-create our BulkLOad/Pallet Program to be more reliable, easier to manage, faster and better for the customer. For a look at what we’re basing this off from, here’s our current incarnation: [url removed, login to view]
The Customer Experience:
• Fast Loading Pages that are well organized with easy to find products.
• One page checkout for fast service.
• Easy to See comparisons on why items in bulk are the best value.
• Importing from Quickbooks (this works well so we’d like to keep it)
o Relies on custom fields in Quickbooks, pulls item model, name, LxWXH, Lbs, Qty per Lot, Price Code, Case Price.
o Updates QB_OSC table currently through ODBC connection to Quickbooks QBW file.
o We push the table to the server through Navicat.
o Pallet Items Page shows items pulled in from Quickbooks and “Process Queue” to pull them into the pallet inventory.
o If at any point we update quickbooks, re-running this will update pallet automatically with new pricing, dimensions or quantity breaks.
• Price Code Multiplier (this works well so we’d like to keep it)
o Allows us to set Price Codes (1 through 8) at multipliers ranging from 1.0 to X, taking our cost per item and multiplying it to a total sales cost.
• Pallet Weight Adjustment this works well so we’d like to keep it)
o Calculation done after price code multiplier. Takes weight of the total amount of a single product to fill 1 Cubic Meter and divides by amount of products in that cubic meter to bump up price per item in the cart. Backend allows us to sets a price at each weight level (100 to 200 pounds, 600 to 700 pounds, 2500 pounds plus).
o Weight levels should be able to be added or modified at any time as we make adjustments to ensure profit.
• Inventory Management
o Ability to make items inactive/active on the fly. The thing that doesn’t work well now is that each item has to be turned on or off one at a time. Would be much more efficient to be able to multi-select or turn on and off via a filter.
o Images stored in images/thumbs/[url removed, login to view] and images/itemnumber.jpg.
o Sort Order for putting like products together and placing faster selling items at the tops of pages
o Out of Stock button in item on the backend shows “Item Temporarily Out Of Stock” on frontend.
o “Notify me when back in stock” button, requires login, generates email automatically when item goes back in stock.
o “Blowout/Specials” button to turn on or off blowout pricing with price override box. When sale/special is over, uncheck box to remove this feature from the frontend.
• Master/Slave Management
o Items are imported by item number and many are stand alone items, but we also have a lot of master/slave relationships.
o We need to be able to create a master item and assign slaves to that master item.
o Master items can not be bought, only slaves or single items with no master/slave relationship.
o When showing price, items with slaves may have a range of $[url removed, login to view] to $X.XX. Price per item is show in the slave selector (radio button not dropdown). When an option/slave is selected, that price is added to the cart.
• Competitor Price/Unit for each Item
o Up to 3 Backend fields which can be turned on or off per item.
o Master control/dropdown for Competitor’s Name (Anchor Hawking, Libbey, etc.) to choose a competitor and key in their price for the same item.
o For items with competitors filled out in backend, front end shows “Compare to Libbey… $[url removed, login to view] per item… save $[url removed, login to view] per item and $[url removed, login to view] per case.”
• Order Processing
o Backend with full customer order detail to match up to [url removed, login to view] emails that we receive when a sale is made.
o Would like to use our Quickbooks importer that we use with OsCommerce currently. This isn’t a necessity (yet) considering the volume of orders but we’d like a price on adding this functionality.
• Category Building
o Categories are created and managed in the backend
o We may want to go tw
