A web-based Online Application System for registering EAPs has been developed. This system was developed using the ‘Ruby on Rails’ Web Framework. Github houses the code for this system
Additional development of the system is required to allow the online application system to be used more efficiently.
Create a “Submit” button for each core competency section.
Create an “Independent Assessors” category. Currently the Assessors who review applications are all Board members who sit on the Registration Committee, and these assessors have access to all applicants’ information. A panel of Independent Assessors have been trained by EAPASA and will be assisting with the assessment of applications received.
A separate category is required for the panel of Independent Assessors as they are only to have access to the personal information of applicants assigned to them, in order to minimise the risk of disclosure and ensure the protection of the personal information of applicants.
On the acceptance of an application, a legislated 120 days begins and a decision by EAPASA has to be made on the application in this period. The 120 days has been built into the system. However, what is required to be built into the system follows. If an assessor needs to request more information from an applicant, the 120 day time limit would need to cease when the application is sent back to the applicant requesting additional information. The clock has to re-start when the applicant re-submits the additional information, and the assessors selected for that particular application must be notified that the additional information has been submitted by the applicant.
An improvement on a filter is required to include an “Outcome Category” in chronological order. The filter would need to be “Final Outcome”, with sub-categories listing the decision as being either “Registered EAP”, “Candidate EAP” or “Not Registerable”. The outcome date is required to be visible as well.
Over and above the below there is need for the addition of an electronic payment facility for applicants to pay their registration assessment fee
A portfolio of relevant work experience, including the contact details of three referees.
