Apache is the web server. We use a rewrite rule in htaccess to pass the url to php (for an MVC system). So, for example, when this address is entered "[login to view URL]" all requests run [login to view URL] with the full path passed to parameter "url", as follows: [login to view URL] When we moved to https we added a line to force any address entered in the browser as [login to view URL] to become [login to view URL] for SEO consistency. The problem: if the user enters "[login to view URL]" it rewrites to "[login to view URL]" but we need it to add the "www." and rewrite consistently to [login to view URL] with the url parameter unchanged. Our current htaccess file in full: Options -MultiViews php_flag display_errors on php_value error_reporting 9999 RewriteEngine On #force pages not entered as SSL to SSL RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l #sends all URLs to [login to view URL] RewriteRule ^(.+)$ [login to view URL]$1 [QSA,L] Please advise on the modification we need to make to have "[login to view URL]" rewrite to "[login to view URL]" (not "[login to view URL]") without breaking any existing functionality.
