SnapTrade requires an explicit sync before balances populate, so if the connection was established but no sync has been triggered, the account exists with empty holdings. Second possibility is the account ID mapping, since SnapTrade returns multiple account objects per brokerage connection and pulling balance from the wrong one returns zero rather than an error. Third is that Webull’s balance data sits under a different response shape than positions do, so a handler written for one silently returns undefined for the other, which renders as $0.00 instead of failing visibly. That last point connects directly to your error handling issue. A dashboard showing $0.00 when the real answer is “we didn’t receive data” is the exact failure mode that makes the platform look broken and makes debugging slow. On a copy trading platform that’s more serious than cosmetic, since a follower could act on a balance that isn’t real. For the admin actions that are UI placeholders, the ones touching broker connections need care beyond the endpoint. Disconnect Broker and Pause Copy Trading both affect live financial relationships, so they need to handle in-flight orders rather than just flipping a status, otherwise a paused relationship still executes a trade already in motion.
