I have a complete Hindi manuscript that currently exists only as scanned pages. I need every word faithfully re-typed into Unicode Hindi text, proof-read for accuracy, and laid out so it reads like a finished book. The final file I am after is a press-ready PDF. Please apply clear, consistent chapter headings; beyond that, the layout can stay straightforward—no images or graphics are required, just clean, flowing text. You will receive the scans (JPEG/PDF) as soon as we start. When you return the work I will run a quick spot-check against the originals, so accuracy in spelling, matras, and punctuation is vital. Deliverables: • Fully formatted PDF, sized for standard paperback (I will supply trim size once we agree). • The underlying Word or InDesign file so I can make future edits if needed. Printed scans I can move on quickly. I would run OCR as a first pass and then read every page against the scan by eye, which is where the matra and punctuation errors actually surface — OCR on its own will not survive the kind of spot-check you are describing. What comes back is a press-ready PDF with consistent chapter headings and clean flowing text, and alongside it the editable DOCX it was made from, so if you want to change a line next year you are not paying someone to retype the book. Checking it should not require trust: the text is real Unicode Hindi rather than an image, so you can search any word from the manuscript and find it; the page count matches your scans one for one; and on any ten pages you pick at random I would expect at most a single character-level slip. Anything that misses that, I correct before I invoice. Two questions: how many pages are there in total, and would you like the original page breaks preserved as they are, or the text reflowed to sit on a standard book page?
