We are seeking a developer to create a tool for automating eBay searches and bidding. This tool will scrape provided eBay search URLs for relevant results, add these results to a database, and execute automated bids on these items within specified price ranges. The purpose of this tool is to streamline repetitive eBay tasks and potentially secure items at favorable prices.
The current project is approximately 85% completed and is written in Python with the CherryPy framework.
It is very neat and clean code. Your job is to review the code and complete the project.
Key Features:
- Real-time data extraction from eBay using web scraping.
- eBay account and user profile verification.
- Automated bidding based on set criteria.
- Email notifications for bid statuses.
- Integration of charts for visual representation of bidding data.
- User dashboard with views like past bids, active bids, etc.
Detailed Milestones:
(1) Review and Environment Setup:
- Thorough review of any existing code.
- Developer environment setup.
- Initiate version control using Git.
- Configure a deployment pipeline.
(2) Database Creation and Data Extraction:
- Design a database structure for user data, eBay listings, bid records, etc.
- Implement web scraping tools/scripts for real-time eBay data extraction.
(3) User Verification and Management:
- Develop eBay account and user profile verification methods.
- Create features for profile management including password resets, profile edits, etc.
(4) Bidding Mechanism:
- Develop an automated bidding algorithm.
- Ensure the tool can bid within user-specified price ranges.
- Implement safeguards to prevent overbidding or bidding against oneself.
(5) User Interface and Dashboard:
- Design a user-friendly interface for managing bids and viewing eBay searches.
- Integrate charts and visual tools for bid data representation.
- Create a dashboard for users to view past bids, active bids, and other relevant data.
(6) Email Notifications:
- Set up a system to send email notifications about bid updates, successful bids, or outbids.
- Ensure reliable and timely delivery of these notifications.
- Include "Action-URLs" to cancel or proceed with bid with 1 click
(7) Testing and Quality Assurance:
- Conduct thorough testing to ensure all features function as intended.
