Image processing Assistance with Python for measuring the layer dimension during the 3D printing

I have been a member of a Underwater System Robotics Team and had developed with Image Recognition and Processing with YOLO, OpenCV, Tensorflow and PyTorch libraries. Hi, I am a researcher in optics & photonics. I have expertise in python and image processing. I do use 3D printer [PLA] frequently. As per your description, you want to measure layer dimensions using a CMOS camera. It is a very interesting project and it involves the following milestones. 1) Measure the magnification of the optical system which involves the CMOS camera and its lens. 2) When you take an image at a certain angle, the width gets changed, which can be recovered from coordinate transformation. A similar and little complex thing happened with depth. 3) Thresholding image & Save data in the Excel sheet. What threshold you want to use? Hopefully you like my proposal. Thanks in advance.
