We have a RFID tag reader with horrible software and even more horrible manufacturer support. We need to read data out of the device and write some small data back. There is no documentation and no instruction set. The unit however is using SiLabs CP2102 USB virtual com port which libraries are well documented. You will need to - Suggest ways to get remote access to a Raspberry Pi or Windows box with a tag reader attached to the USB port - Suggest ways to sniff the USB port to create an instruction set - Write a script / executable for extracting the data Python is allowed, C++ might be a better approach so we can have both a Linux and Windows executable.

i can remotely access a pi and can work on linux, i have experience with pi and linux and writing custom scripts for different purposes. I am an electrical engineer and have been working as embedded systems developer for past 4 years. I have developed systems using arduino, STM32, PIC and raspberry pi. I have created a number plate recognition system, driver fatigue detection system and video surveillance system using raspberry pi and pi cam, rfid based warehouse management using pi. Halo, selamat malam. I'm from Indonesia too :) interesting project, previously i develop rfid read - write card software using raspi and MFRC522 and python. it is well-documented anyway. first i think it is software-building project, after read more the description, it happened to be sniffing. its ok, maybe i can help. have you try using usb sniffer in windows? its easier to sniff in windows than in linux.
