Simple Matching Card Game using Pygame

Creating a game where the user needs to find pairs of matching cards. I'm running into a few issues:
1) as it stands, when there is a match the cards stay face up. However, I would like to remove them - can't seem to be able to access the memory object of the Card to remove from the card_images list
2) Want to be able to have a Play button and reset the game - my Play button rect won't disappear and I'm not sure how to remove this. Feeding into the first question, once the play button appears on the screen, I want to reset all the removed items and restore them back into their original lists
