**Description:** We're building a city taxi booking platform for a single city in North India. We need a working MVP, not a white-label customisation. The codebase must be fully owned by us. **What we need built** 1. Backend API — Node.js + TypeScript, PostgreSQL with PostGIS, Redis. Driver/vehicle/ride/subscription models, OTP auth, document records with verification audit trail. 2. Dispatch service — real-time matching of nearest available driver, configurable acceptance window with auto-reassign on timeout or rejection, WebSocket location streaming. 3. Driver app — Android only, React Native or Flutter. Onboarding with document upload, online/offline toggle, ride accept/reject, in-ride flow, earnings screen, subscription balance, mandatory panic button, handoff to Google Maps for navigation. 4. Passenger web app — mobile-first PWA, installable. Opens from a QR code with no app install required. Location entry, fare estimate, booking, live tracking, panic button, ride history. 5. Admin panel — driver approval queue with verification logging, live fleet map, ride and dispatch logs, subscription ledger, fare configuration, and a restricted operator role for a 24x7 control room with live emergency alerts. **Hard requirements** - Three languages selected on first run and switchable: English, Hindi, Punjabi. All strings externalised — no hardcoded text. - Routing, distance and ETA via self-hosted OSRM. Google Maps Directions API must not be used for routing. Map display via MapLibre with open tiles. - Background location must survive aggressive battery managers on Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and Realme devices. Foreground service required. - The driver app must behave sensibly through network loss and reconnect mid-ride. Queued location writes, no lost ride state. - Live location tracking and panic button are regulatory requirements, not optional features. Build them into the schema from the start. - Call masking integration (Exotel or similar) so phone numbers are never exposed. - All data stored on Indian-region infrastructure. **Out of scope** No iOS apps. No in-app fare payments — fares settle directly between passenger and driver. No wallet, chat, ratings, promo codes, surge pricing, scheduled rides, or multiple vehicle categories. **Deliverables** Source code in our GitHub repository from day one with regular pushes. Deployment documentation, database schema documentation, API documentation, and a signed Play Store build. Sixty days of bug-fix support after handover. **Milestones** 1. Database schema and backend API 2. Dispatch service, demonstrated working with simulated drivers before any UI work 3. Admin panel 4. Driver Android app 5. Passenger PWA 6. Integration, testing, Play Store submission Payment is per milestone on acceptance. No large upfront payment. **Please answer these in your proposal — generic proposals will be ignored** 1. How do you keep background location alive on a Xiaomi or Vivo phone when the app is not in the foreground? Be specific. 2. Have you deployed OSRM or another self-hosted routing engine? Which project? 3. A driver loses network for four minutes mid-ride in a hilly area. What happens to the ride state and the location history? 4. Link to a live app you have built with real-time location tracking. App store links or a demo we can run. Also tell us your availability per week and your realistic timeline. We will share a clickable prototype and a detailed functional specification with shortlisted candidates after an NDA.

Hi, I can build this taxi MVP with full code ownership. Backend in Node.js and TypeScript with PostgreSQL plus PostGIS and Redis: driver, vehicle, ride and subscription models, OTP auth and document verification audit trail. Dispatch uses PostGIS nearest-driver queries with a configurable acceptance window and auto-reassign on timeout or reject, with WebSocket location streaming. Driver app in Flutter for Android: document onboarding, online toggle, accept/reject, in-ride flow, earnings, subscription balance, panic button and Google Maps handoff. Passenger PWA opens from a QR code, and the admin includes the restricted operator role with live emergency alerts. Which city? Regards, Harsh Thoriya

Your dispatch logic will fail under load if you're broadcasting every driver location update to all connected admins without spatial filtering. At 200 active drivers sending updates every 3 seconds, that's 4000 WebSocket messages per minute hitting your admin panel — your browser will freeze. Quick questions - are you planning geohash-based spatial indexing in PostgreSQL to limit broadcast radius? And what's your target fleet size at 6 months so we can design the dispatch queue to handle that concurrency without race conditions? Here is the architectural approach: - BACKGROUND LOCATION: Foreground service with WAKE_LOCK and manufacturer-specific whitelist prompts (Xiaomi autostart, Vivo high background consumption). Location writes queue to SQLite locally, flush on reconnect with conflict resolution by timestamp. - OSRM DEPLOYMENT: I've deployed OSRM on AWS EC2 with India OSM extracts for a Bangalore logistics client. Configured polyline compression and added Redis caching layer that dropped average route calculation from 180ms to 40ms. - NETWORK RESILIENCE: Ride state persists in local Realm/SQLite with a finite state machine. Location points queue with device timestamp. On reconnect, backend reconciles queued points by ride_id + timestamp, fills gaps in PostGIS trajectory, recalculates fare if needed. I've built real-time fleet tracking for a last-mile delivery platform that handled 300 concurrent drivers across 4 cities — live demo and architecture walkthrough available under NDA. Let's schedule a 20-minute technical call to review your dispatch state machine before you commit to a build approach.

Having spent the past six years specializing in full-stack development with a focus on your preferred tech stack, I am the perfect fit for bringing your ride-hailing MVP to life. My detailed knowledge in Node.js, React Native, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL with PostGIS will ensure a robust backend API that encompasses all your hard requirements such as vehicle/ride models, OTP authentication, dispatch services and more. Notably, my expertise includes real-time tracking applications where location data is preserved even through system optimizations. To make your specific request a reality, I would employ methodologies based on Android's Documentation, JobScheduler APIs and Firebase's Realtime Database. Furthermore, I love deploying open-source technologies like OSRM routing engines - maintaining scalability without reliance on third-party services (such as the Google Maps Directions API). No stranger to the complexities of background location-based services and network loss management during rides, I am well-equipped to handle unforeseen scenarios as well.

I have 9+ years of Android/mobile engineering experience, including native Android, Flutter, GPS/background services, networking and AOSP. 1. Xiaomi/Vivo background location: I use a native foreground location service with persistent notification, correct location permissions and locally persisted ride state. For Xiaomi/Vivo/Oppo/Realme, I also handle OEM battery/autostart restrictions so tracking remains reliable. 2. OSRM: I have not deployed a public OSRM project I can honestly cite, but I am comfortable with Linux/self-hosted infrastructure and can deploy OSRM from OSM data behind the Node.js/TypeScript backend. 3. Network loss mid-ride: The ride continues locally. GPS points are stored in Room with timestamps/sequence IDs. When connectivity returns, queued locations sync in order, while the active ride state remains intact. 4. Real-time location: I can demonstrate my Android GPS/background-service and AOSP work during a technical call. Availability: 30–40 hrs/week. Timeline: 16–18 weeks. I’m comfortable following your milestone order, especially proving dispatch with simulated drivers before UI work.

I’ve worked on a city-scale ride-hailing app before where background location on aggressive devices was crucial. To keep location alive on Xiaomi or Vivo phones, I combine a foreground service with partial wakelocks and carefully monitor battery optimization exceptions, prompting users to whitelist the app during onboarding. This avoids location drops when the app is backgrounded. I’ve deployed OSRM self-hosted on AWS for a logistics client, tuning the routing profiles to support their vehicle types and local roads, which gave us full control over routing without Google dependencies. For a driver losing network mid-ride, I design the app to queue location updates locally and sync them once connectivity returns, preserving ride state so no data is lost and the backend has a complete tracking record. Here is a demo of a delivery app I built that uses real-time location tracking and dispatch: [link removed for privacy]. It has live driver location, route updates, and fallback mechanisms for network drops. I’m available 20+ hours per week and estimate this MVP could be delivered in about 14 weeks, following your milestone split. I’m ready to start reviewing the prototype and specs to align on technical details and deliverables.

Your dispatch-first milestone is the right approach. I’d validate matching, acceptance timeout/reassignment, location streaming, and ride-state recovery with simulated drivers before UI work. 1. Xiaomi/Vivo: On Android I’d use a foreground location service with persistent notification, appropriate location permissions, WorkManager for recoverable jobs, and persisted ride state. I’d also guide users through manufacturer-specific battery/autostart settings because Android cannot guarantee survival if OEM power management explicitly kills the process. 2. I have real-time location experience through JiffyJaf, a delivery/marketplace ecosystem. I have not deployed OSRM on a production project, so I would not claim otherwise. I’m comfortable implementing your required self-hosted OSRM + PostGIS architecture. 3. During a four-minute outage, the active ride remains persisted locally. Timestamped GPS samples are queued on-device and uploaded in order after reconnect with idempotent writes; the server reconciles state rather than creating a second ride or losing the trip history. 4. Relevant live/mobile work can be reviewed through my portfolio; I won’t present a project as an exact taxi/location reference unless it genuinely demonstrates that functionality. Availability: 35–40 hours/week. For this scope, I’d estimate roughly 14–18 weeks through integration and Play Store submission, subject to the final specification and emergency/compliance requirements.

Hi, The most precisely specified ride-hailing brief I have read here, and squarely my stack - Node/TypeScript, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Redis, React Native. You know what you want, so I will speak to the parts that carry real risk. Dispatch is the heart of it. Nearest-available matching with a configurable acceptance window and auto-reassign on timeout/rejection is a Redis-backed state machine over PostGIS proximity queries, streaming location over WebSocket - and the correctness rule that matters is one driver never offered two rides, and a rejected/timed-out ride reassigns cleanly with no race. That is where I would spend the early effort and the tests. Your OSRM-not-Google call is right; I have run self-hosted OSRM with MapLibre, and it also removes per-request routing cost. I would host it on the North India OSM extract with periodic refresh. The Xiaomi/Vivo/Oppo/Realme background-location piece is the real Android battle: a foreground service with persistent notification, queued location writes that survive process death, and clean reconnect mid-ride so ride state is never lost. Panic and live tracking I treat as first-class schema, as you require - not features. Honest note: 75k buys a lean but real MVP - I would sequence dispatch + driver app + PWA booking first, then admin depth and subscription ledger. Exotel call masking is straightforward. Ping me and I will walk through the dispatch design. Thanks, Raj
