Lecture Hall & Atrium Concept Design

I’m commissioning a full concept design for a multi-wing lecture hall that will be rolled out in stages, starting with a central atrium. The first phase must set the tone for the entire complex, so the atrium has to feel complete on its own while anticipating later wings. Architectural character I’m deliberately steering clear of purely modern, traditional, or contemporary labels; I want a distinctive style that speaks to an academic environment yet still feels forward-looking. Surprise me with a cohesive aesthetic language that can grow gracefully as new wings are added. Atrium purpose The atrium’s primary function is a study space. It should foster quiet focus as well as collaborative energy, so the layout must comfortably blend: • Individual study desks • Group study tables (Think flexible furniture clusters, balanced acoustics, generous daylight, and sightlines that ease supervision without feeling institutional.) Scope of work & deliverables For this first stage, I need: • Concept site plan showing future lecture-hall wings in outline and the atrium in detail • Floor plan(s) and key sectional cuts of the atrium illustrating circulation, study zones, and expansion joints • 3D massing or concept renders that convey materiality, daylight strategy, and facade expression • A brief phasing narrative explaining how utilities and structural grids accommodate later construction without costly rework Files should arrive in PDF for presentation plus the original source (SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, or similar) so my in-house team can iterate further. Timeline is flexible enough for thoughtful exploration, but I’d like the first draft within two weeks of kick-off.
