We are a major world atlas publisher and would like to test out a ‘geographic news clipping’ service, which would provide us with world change information.
We are seeking bids to carry out an initial trial - to review selected online sources over a typical one month period and feed back the details.
After evaluating a number of applications we will award the successful bidder a one month trial which may lead on to a longer term contract.
The total time required for a monthly review period will be dependent on the number of relevant news items, estimated at around 7-10 hours.
Scanning would involve looking through daily news sources, archived news items and digital monthly magazines. The sources are all English language, so a high competence in English is essential.
A methodology for scanning each source, a list of criteria to be used when deciding what information is relevant to our requirements and a template for feeding back the information will be provided (see attached files for further details).
Stages:
1 Scan websites/digital magazines for relevant change information
2 Record change information in a given format, using supplied template
3 Report change information by email as required
Scan news each day: Wikipedia News, BBC World News – by continent.
Scan archives once a month: Airport Technology: Industry News, International Water Power & Dam Construction: News, Railway Technology: Industry News, Road Traffic Technology: Industry News, World Highways: (1) Key Projects > Features (2) Roads & highway structures > News (3) World Reports > Features.
Scan periodicals once a month: International Railway Journal magazine, Railway Gazette International magazine.
