I am working on (Hajj Crowd Management using remote sensing techniques (RFID)) for the requirements of the degree of Master of Science in Computing Information Systems.
More than 2 million Muslims from almost more than 180 different countries around the world make Hajj each years and the number are still rising due to huge infrastructure expansion in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. However, with the rise number of Pilgrims also raised the concerns of the proper management in term of any incident or disaster struck due to managing large number of pilgrims. The huge number of pilgrims causing problems and the authority facing difficulties in managing those crowded pilgrims. There were several studies carried out in using different technologies including RFID to promote a system for effective and efficient crowd management system in Makkah. Almost none of them make it significant progress for making system better in managing crowd at Hajj events. This study use RFID based technology and simulate full system using MATLAB Simulink simulation for handling pilgrims more effectively and affordable in term of flexibility and considering their cultural background.

Taking into account the following steps:
1st step: make a literature review about crowd modeling in the general case not only for hajj.
- 2nd step: select one of the best and clear approaches of crowd modeling. To help you, the easiest is the for you is the “crowd Agent Models ”
- 3rd step: enhance this model with accurate input data collected from the RFID check points.
- 4th step: develop a simulator based on this model
- 5th step: prove the efficiency of this enhanced model through the simulations based on the obtained results from the simulator
Regarding step 3, it is to design an enhanced model from what you have selected as a model in the step 2.
The enhanced model must be adapted to the context of hajj where collected data can be through check point and not at each point. it means that the model must be able to adjust their parameters regarding the collected data of number of pilgrim in some points. for your project it is not required that you get access really to the sensors and IoT devices, you can be restricted to simulations and show that we can integrate your designed system to the IoT platforms. But this is not really a part of this project purposes. In this master, the realization will be a prototype of simulator for traffic management in Hajj (step 4).
Before going to the next step, firstly you need that you explain for as the step 2 which is the selection of the approach of crowd modeling that further you need to extend. So, at this moment, we are asking you to explain for us the model that you have selected and how it can be extended and used for Hajj.
