Geopolitical Consultant Required About the role We are seeking a Geopolitical Consultant to produce clear, timely, and well-supported analysis on global developments, with a strong emphasis on the Indo-Pacific. This role is suited to someone who can turn complex political, regulatory, and security developments into actionable written insight for a professional audience. The analyst will cover a broad range of issues, including cross-strait dynamics, the South China Sea, ASEAN politics, critical supply chains, defense posture, technology policy, and export controls, while also maintaining awareness of wider global trends that shape regional risk and opportunity. Success in this role requires strong judgment, disciplined research methods, and the ability to deliver high-quality written work within defined scopes and deadlines. Work arrangement: Remote, part-time (per-deliverable, freelance basis) What you'll be doing Produce written analysis in multiple formats, including daily updates, deeper assessments, and scenario-based forecasts focused on geopolitical risks and opportunities. Monitor and interpret policy, regulatory, political, and security developments across the United States and key Indo-Pacific capitals, identifying implications as events evolve. Analyze major regional themes such as cross-strait relations, South China Sea developments, ASEAN political dynamics, defense posture, technology policy, export controls, and critical supply chain issues. Translate complex developments into structured, concise, and decision-useful deliverables that align with the agreed assignment scope, word count, and deadline. Develop and maintain a reliable network of legal, professional, and subject-matter contacts to strengthen reporting, validate developments, and add context to written analysis. Assess the credibility of sources and information channels, using sound analytical methods to distinguish between noise, emerging signals, and meaningful developments. Contribute insight on both immediate developments and forward-looking scenarios, helping frame how current events may affect future regional and global conditions. What we're looking for Strong expertise in Indo-Pacific geopolitics, with the ability to connect regional developments to broader global political, economic, and security trends. Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to produce polished analysis that is clear, persuasive, and accurate under tight deadlines. Demonstrated analytical rigor, with a thoughtful approach to source evaluation, information quality, and contextual interpretation. A well-developed professional network or the ability to build and sustain one, using trusted contacts and research channels to improve the depth and reliability of insight. Sound judgment when covering complex or sensitive topics, especially in areas involving security, regulation, defense, and strategic competition. What you'll need 5+ years of experience in geopolitical risk, intelligence analysis, policy research, defense or security analysis, or a related field. Demonstrable Indo-Pacific expertise, supported by a portfolio of published analysis, briefings, or comparable work product. Proven ability to research and write on topics related to regional security, policy, and strategic affairs with a high standard of accuracy and clarity. Ability to maintain and use a network of relevant resources, contacts, and experts to strengthen research quality and insight. Strong capability in assessing source reliability and validating information before incorporating it into analysis. Professional-level ability to manage deadlines and deliver work according to an agreed scope, word count, and timeline. What we offer A per-deliverable compensation model ranging from $300-$2000 per deliverable. Clearly defined assignments with an agreed scope, word count, and deadline before work begins. Fees that are agreed in advance based on deliverable type or specific assignment.
