We are looking for an experienced Shopify developer to help us resolve a specific issue on an existing and fully functional e-commerce website. The Issue When a customer selects multiple units of the same product, the quantity is correctly displayed in the cart. However, when proceeding to checkout, the quantity changes unexpectedly to 1. Example: Product selected: Rose × 4 ↓ Cart: Rose × 4 Correct ↓ Checkout: Rose × 1 Incorrect The expected behavior is for the checkout to maintain the same quantity selected by the customer: Rose × 4 → Cart × 4 → Checkout × 4 We believe the issue may be related to [login to view URL], custom JavaScript, Shopify cart logic, theme customization, AJAX cart functionality, or the way the cart information is being transferred to checkout. Scope of Work We need someone who can: Review the current Shopify cart implementation. Identify why the quantity is being reset to 1 during checkout. Review [login to view URL], AJAX/cart scripts, theme code, and any related customizations. Check whether an app, custom script, or theme modification is interfering with the cart quantities. Implement and test the fix. Ensure that multiple quantities and multiple products are correctly transferred from the cart to checkout. Avoid affecting the rest of the website's existing functionality. The website is already operational. We are not looking for a redesign or a new Shopify store. This is a focused troubleshooting and bug-fixing task. We are looking for someone with strong experience in Shopify, Liquid, JavaScript, AJAX Cart API, [login to view URL], and Shopify checkout/cart behavior. Please include in your proposal your experience troubleshooting similar Shopify cart/checkout issues and your estimated time to diagnose and fix the problem.

Greetings, I see that you're experiencing an issue with the cart quantity not transferring correctly to the checkout stage on your Shopify store. It sounds like when customers select multiple units of a product, the cart reflects those quantities, but it resets to 1 during checkout. I’d approach this by first diving into your current cart implementation to pinpoint what’s causing the reset. I have solid experience with Shopify, Liquid, and JavaScript, which will help in reviewing the relevant scripts and customizations. I’ll check if there are any conflicts with apps or theme modifications that could be affecting the cart behavior and implement a fix that ensures quantities are correctly transferred without disrupting other site functionalities. Best regards, Saba Ehsan

The quantity is clearly being saved in the cart, then lost during the handoff to checkout, so the problem is likely in the cart update flow, AJAX logic, or a script/app touching line items at the last step. The key here is finding the exact conflict and fixing it cleanly so nothing else in the store breaks. Most of my similar Shopify troubleshooting work has been around custom theme behavior, Liquid + JavaScript interactions, cart drawers, and app/theme conflicts that caused checkout data mismatches. This looks like the kind of issue that usually gets resolved with a careful code review and controlled testing rather than a big rebuild, and I’d estimate about 3-4 hours total. A few specifics would help narrow it fast: - Which Shopify theme are you using, and is the cart default or customized? - Are there bundle, upsell, cart drawer, or quantity-related apps active? - Have you noticed whether the issue happens on both desktop and mobile?

Since the cart shows the right number and checkout drops it back to 1, the bug is likely somewhere between the cart state update and the checkout submission. I’d review the cart template, AJAX requests, quantity update handlers, and any custom script/app that may be rebuilding line items incorrectly before checkout opens. I’ve worked on Shopify stores where custom carts, theme edits, and third-party apps caused quantities, variants, or line-item properties to pass incorrectly into checkout. For a single live-store issue with testing included, I’d expect diagnosis and correction to take around 2-3 hours in many cases, assuming access to the active theme and app list. A few questions before jumping in: - Is the issue present for every product or only for specific SKUs/variants? - Are you using cart notes, upsells, bundles, or any custom add-to-cart code? - Do you already have a duplicate theme where the fix should be tested first?

Hi, I understand you're experiencing a critical issue with your Shopify store where the cart correctly displays the selected quantity of a product, but it changes to one when proceeding to checkout. This discrepancy can lead to customer dissatisfaction and potential revenue loss. The main challenge here is identifying the root cause of this quantity mismatch, which could involve issues with the session handling or a bug in the custom scripts affecting the cart's data persistence during the transition to checkout. My approach would involve a thorough examination of the cart and checkout scripts, focusing on the logic that handles quantity updates to ensure stability and accuracy. I have extensive experience working with Shopify and resolving similar issues, utilizing PHP and JavaScript to ensure seamless functionality across e-commerce platforms. Q1 – Are there any custom apps or scripts that modify the cart or checkout process? Q2 – Have there been any recent updates or changes to the theme or Shopify settings? Q3 – Is this issue occurring with all products or specific ones? Looking forward to hearing from you and resolving this issue promptly.

Hi, the important part here is that the cart already knows the correct quantity, so the bug is happening during the handoff to checkout and needs to be isolated without touching the working store. I’ve built Shopify stores with custom Liquid code and have handled order and fulfillment automation, so I’m comfortable tracing custom cart behavior and fixing issues without turning a focused bug fix into a redesign. I’ll identify the exact cause, correct the quantity transfer, and test multiple units across multiple products before handing it back. Does the quantity become 1 with every product, or only certain products or variants? Best regards, Muhammad Saad K

I understand you're experiencing a critical bug where product quantities reset to 1 at checkout, despite being correctly displayed in the cart. This is a common but frustrating issue that directly impacts conversion rates. I've successfully diagnosed and resolved similar quantity manipulation bugs in Shopify's cart and checkout processes for other e-commerce clients, ensuring accurate order fulfillment. My approach will involve a thorough review of your theme's JavaScript, specifically focusing on cart update functions, AJAX calls, and any custom scripts that might interact with product quantities before the checkout API is invoked. I'll utilize browser developer tools, Shopify's Liquid template debugging, and potentially a temporary staging environment to pinpoint the exact script or theme section causing the quantity override. My primary goal is to identify and correct the faulty logic that's resetting the quantity. Could you confirm if any recent theme updates or app installations preceded this issue? Once I've had a chance to review your site, I can provide a more precise estimate. I'm available for a brief call to discuss this further and demonstrate how I can quickly resolve this for you.

Cart showing Rose × 4 but checkout dropping to 1 usually means something rewrites the cart between the two steps, like a custom script on the checkout button or a cart attribute overriding the line item. I'd check that first rather than guess. I've built WooCommerce store integrations with custom themes and order flows, so cart-to-checkout handoffs are familiar. Is the theme customized, and does it happen with every product or only Rose?
