Delight Foods ([login to view URL]) is India's first brand focussing on "regional specialities" : we have a vision to be the Fab India of food: premium (profitable); artisan ; authentic - all our products are best by taste (done double blind) and we do NOT sell anything which does not create a great fine dining experience at home (and Indians prefer to eat at home!). Our other inspiration was Trader Joes in the US.
We will be primarily a DTC brand, digitally native and build engaged communities who celebrate regional Indian food : take a thought leadership position around regional Indian cuisine.
Delight Foods focuses on high quality "regional Indian food" -- specialise in catering to each community's daily food ingredients : we have over 70-80 products for each community e.g all the unique staples, spices and pickles and even snacks/sweets : the food which a Bengali needs in Bangalore or the Malyali needs in Gurgaon. These products will not be available at local stores - ideal for online channels and 60% of the sales comes from Amazon/BB / Own Website.
We have built a robust multi modal logistics model with 5 warehouses which work as sourcing / destination hubs and thus optimising the freight costs (local courier vs national courier).
We have seen good traction and are poised for a rapid scale up from the current Rs 1.0 cr per month sales (with negligible marketing spend) to Rs 5 cr per month in 2 years. The business is currently breaking even and will always have 10%+ CM1 (post all direct costs) and hence capital efficient (no factories at this stage but a robust 3rd party manufacturing strategy).
We are ideally placed to target Indian communities living in different parts of the world; We offer premium gifting solutions and also plan to launch a range of "healthy snacks" for "on the go" consumption at office tuck shops/Vending m/c.
We are funded by Dhampure Speciality Sugars Pvt Ltd -- one of the largest sugar manufacturing companies in the North.
