The project idea is to implement a system which will allow to start virtual machines on the server extremely fast. All virtual machines have the same configuration, essentially clones of each other.
The idea is to capture a snapshot of a VM somewhere around a final boot stage, store this snapshot in an in-memory filesystem and use it to restore multiple VM copies fast (in under 10 seconds).
You can offer your own ideas as well.
Host OS will be some kind of linux, presumably the latest CentOS. Guests are linux, windows and mac.
Please do not worry about licensing issues. The project scope is to create a working technical solution. I will take care on purchasing the licenses and hardware necessary when this solution will be put into production.
The preferred hypervisor is KVM, however I'm ready to consider others as well.
I am happy to help with this but there are legal caveats, these are pointed out in the PM message I sent to you. Anybody not warning you about this is not acting professionally.
