Straightforward work, and worth being specific about the hardening since that is most of the value here. KiwiIRC is a web client with a server-side gateway, and the gateway is the part that needs care rather than the client. Three things I would get right. TLS terminated properly at a reverse proxy in front of it, with a real certificate and automatic renewal, so both the page and the websocket run over HTTPS and WSS - a mixed-content websocket is the usual reason a hardened install still fails. The gateway itself bound to localhost and reachable only through that proxy, never exposed directly. And WEBIRC configured with the shared password your network expects, so real client IPs are passed through to the IRC server instead of every user appearing to connect from your box - without it your server looks like an open relay to the network, which is how these installs get K-lined. Beyond that: connection restricted to your chosen network rather than left open as a general-purpose gateway, sensible rate and connection limits, the service run as an unprivileged user under systemd so it restarts cleanly, and firewall rules to match. I will leave you a short note on what was configured and how to update it, so you are not dependent on me. Fourteen years full-stack, Linux server work included. Which distro and which IRC network, and do you already have a domain and certificate for it?

Hello, I'm Denis, a full-stack developer experienced in deploying web applications on Linux servers with SSL/TLS configuration, dependency management, and production hardening. I understand your needs: secure KiwiIRC deployment with proper certificates, firewall rules, and documentation for independent management. This is straightforward work requiring careful attention to security and maintainability. I've completed similar setups—installing Node.js applications, configuring systemd services, setting up reverse proxies with SSL, and applying proper permissions and firewall rules. My approach is methodical to ensure nothing is missed. Here's my process: First, I'll review your server environment and check existing installations. Then I'll install the latest stable KiwiIRC, configure dependencies, and connect it to your IRC network. Next, I'll set up SSL/TLS using Let's Encrypt or your existing certificates, apply hardening with restrictive permissions and firewall rules, and document all configurations with a management guide for starting, stopping, and updating the service. For certificates, I'll configure auto-renewal for Let's Encrypt to prevent expiration issues, or integrate existing certificates with clear renewal instructions. I'll verify everything step by step and test the full setup before delivery to prevent dependency or firewall issues. I'm ready to start immediately. Let's discuss the details. Thanks, Denis.

Hi, You need KiwiIRC fully installed and secured on your Linux server for public use. Ensuring best-practice hardening and SSL/TLS configuration can be challenging without the right expertise. Here's how I'd do it: - Fetch the latest stable KiwiIRC build and check all dependencies. - Apply security hardening measures and configure the firewall, along with SSL/TLS installation using OpenSSL. - Provide a documented config file and a hand-off guide for service management. I can have a working version of the core setup ready on a test link within a day. What’s your preferred IRC network for the connection? Toqeer S

Hello, I can install and harden KiwiIRC on your Linux server while ensuring secure HTTPS connections and proper IRC network integration. I’ve set up KiwiIRC for a client using a self-signed certificate with automatic renewal, which avoided downtime during certificate updates. I’d approach this by installing KiwiIRC with Docker for easy updates, configuring Nginx as a reverse proxy with Let’s Encrypt for automatic SSL, and applying basic IRC network settings. This setup will ensure secure, encrypted connections while keeping the installation lightweight and maintainable. Proper hardening will reduce the risk of unauthorized access or misconfigurations. A secure setup will protect your IRC traffic from interception and ensure compliance with modern security standards. I’ll document every step, including certificate generation and service management commands. After deployment, I’ll walk you through the hand-off process and provide troubleshooting tips for future updates. If this approach works for you, I’d be happy to discuss the IRC network details and server requirements. Thanks, Lazar.

I can install and configure KiwiIRC on your existing Linux server and leave it production-ready with secure HTTPS access. I can handle: Install the latest stable KiwiIRC/webircgateway release Configure your chosen IRC network/upstream Configure KiwiIRC client and server settings Set up Nginx as a reverse proxy where appropriate Configure HTTPS with Let’s Encrypt SSL/TLS Configure required firewall ports and restrict unnecessary access Apply KiwiIRC security settings such as allowed origins and network restrictions Configure the service to start automatically and recover after reboot Test browser connectivity, IRC authentication, and message/channel functionality Clean up and document configuration files and commands Provide a short handover guide for start/stop, logs, configuration changes, and updates KiwiIRC's current documentation supports a separate web client and webircgateway; the gateway can be reverse-proxied behind an existing HTTP server such as Nginx. I have experience with Linux, Nginx, Docker, DNS, SSL/TLS, firewalls, production server deployments, and web services. I have done similar Linux/server configuration work before. Estimated timeline: 1 - 2hrs depending on the IRC network and existing server configuration. If we start talking, I can show relevant examples of my previous infrastructure work and explain the deployment approach.

Hi, The main challenge here is getting KiwiIRC production-ready without cutting corners on security or leaving you with unclear documentation. I'll handle the full setup: pulling the latest stable build, installing dependencies, configuring it to connect to your IRC network, setting up SSL/TLS with proper certificate handling, and hardening the system with firewall rules and sensible config defaults. My approach is to use a process-based setup rather than a one-off script. I'll install KiwiIRC as a systemd service so it starts automatically on reboot and stays running reliably. For certificates, I'll either integrate Let's Encrypt with auto-renewal or install your existing certs cleanly—whichever fits your infrastructure. The config files will be minimal and commented so you understand what each setting does. One thing to watch: KiwiIRC needs to know its external URL to generate correct WebSocket endpoints. I'll verify this matches your actual domain before going live, and test the connection through a browser to catch any routing issues early. The deliverable is a server that runs without manual intervention, a plaintext guide covering start/stop/restart commands and certificate renewal, and all config files in version control format so updates are straightforward later. I can start right away. Thanks, Felix.

Hi, I’ll install and harden KiwiIRC on your Linux server, connect it to your IRC network, and make sure it’s served securely over HTTPS with clean, production-ready configuration. I’ll handle the KiwiIRC build, dependency checks, firewall review, and SSL/TLS setup so the deployment is safe for public use. I recently set up and secured web-based services on Linux hosts, including certificate-enabled deployments with documented service controls and handoff notes. For your project, I’d begin by checking the server OS, current ports, and web stack, then configure KiwiIRC, verify TLS, and test start/stop and update procedures. Will you be using an existing domain and certificate, or should I prepare the TLS setup from scratch? Best regards, NexLoom

The lack of a secure configuration for your IRC installation exposes your server to vulnerabilities, risking unauthorized access and data breaches. My background bridges backend server management, security hardening, and SSL/TLS implementation to align with your operational goals. My operational workflow deploys a strategic mix of proprietary technical configurations alongside stable engineering core frameworks to deliver optimized system execution capabilities. What specific IRC network settings and any existing firewall configurations should I be aware of? If the project scope remains fluid, let's initiate an immediate brief to review the technical details together. In the worst-case scenario, we map out your core technical constraints, and you walk away with a free strategic consultation and a clear blueprint to get your project completed. Talk soon, Lee-Roy.
