I need hands-on help keeping my AWS estate running smoothly and fully automated. Day to day I work with EC2 for compute, S3 for object storage, and RDS for databases, all sitting on standard Linux distributions. Your role is to jump in alongside me during my working hours, answer questions, fix issues, and, when needed, take the keyboard over a screen-share to demonstrate the right way to do it. Automation is key. I already use Terraform to provision the cloud resources and I want every new change written as clean, reusable HCL. Configuration after the machines are up is handled through Ansible, so you must feel comfortable writing new playbooks and keeping the inventory tidy and scalable. All code ends up in GitLab, so basic merge-request etiquette, branching strategy, and pipeline troubleshooting are part of the routine. Typical situations you would tackle with me include: • Refactoring existing Terraform modules so they’re idempotent and DRY • Writing or debugging Ansible playbooks that configure EC2 instances from a dynamic inventory • Investigating why an S3 lifecycle rule or RDS parameter isn’t behaving as expected • Permissions fine-tuning via IAM policies and security groups • Setting up lightweight tests in the GitLab CI/CD pipeline to catch syntax issues before they reach production Acceptance criteria for any task we close together: 1. Code committed to GitLab with passing pipeline. 2. Documentation or inline comments clear enough that I can reproduce the change alone. 3. No manual steps left un-automated unless explicitly agreed. If you’re fluent in Linux troubleshooting, Terraform, Ansible playbook development and inventory management, and you’re happy to pair program, let’s get started.

Are the EC2 servers mostly Ubuntu or Amazon Linux? Terraform already applying from GitLab CI, or manually now? Ansible inventory static file or AWS dynamic now? I’ve done similar automation work before. Hi, this is Ambar Shome, I work independently but also run Shome & Associates for larger projects. I can help in a practical way during your working hours. Join on screen-share, fix issues with you, explain while doing it, then leave clean code behind. I work daily with AWS + Linux + Terraform + Ansible, so the usual problems here are familiar. Broken IAM access, SG rules too open, RDS params not applying, S3 lifecycle not triggering, Terraform state conflicts, Ansible playbooks failing on second run. Normal stuff. What I’d do first is review current repo + pipeline, then tidy the parts causing repeat issues. Use remote Terraform state with locking if missing, add `fmt/validate/plan` in GitLab, clean variables, remove duplicated HCL, keep modules simple. For Ansible I’d sort inventory by env, move secrets to Vault, add tags for partial runs, make roles re-runnable, and add syntax checks in CI. Small changes, useful changes. Linux side I can handle logs, services, package issues, disk space, permissions, cron jobs, SSL renewals, backups. No problem. I also leave short notes in repo comments so you can repeat the change yourself later. That matters.

I understand your workflow is fully automation-driven, with infrastructure defined in Terraform, configuration handled through Ansible, and all changes managed through GitLab pipelines. I am comfortable working in environments where every change is written as reusable code, configuration is applied through playbooks, and deployments are validated through CI/CD before reaching production. I have supported AWS-based systems where reliability depended on clean deployment workflows and consistent environments rather than manual fixes. I am also comfortable debugging issues live during working sessions and leaving the system in a reproducible state after each change. Would you like to start with a current Terraform module or Ansible task that needs refactoring or troubleshooting?

Hello, I’m an AWS/DevOps engineer with strong hands-on experience in EC2, S3, RDS, and Linux environments, and I work daily with Terraform and Ansible to keep infrastructures fully automated and maintainable. I’ve refactored Terraform modules to be clean and idempotent, built dynamic Ansible inventories for EC2, and debugged IAM, networking, and lifecycle issues in production setups, all within GitLab workflows with CI/CD pipelines. I’m comfortable pairing via screen share, explaining decisions clearly, and making sure everything is reproducible with no hidden manual steps. Quick questions: are you using remote state for Terraform (S3 + DynamoDB), and do you already have a module structure in place or need help standardizing it? Also, is your Ansible inventory fully dynamic (e.g., AWS plugin) or partially static right now? I can jump in during your working hours and help stabilize and streamline everything quickly. Best regards

Hi, This aligns perfectly with my daily work. I have 5+ years of experience managing AWS environments (EC2, S3, RDS) with a strong focus on automation using Terraform and Ansible. I can help you: • Refactor Terraform code into clean, reusable, DRY modules • Write and debug Ansible playbooks with dynamic inventory • Troubleshoot issues in EC2, S3 lifecycle policies, and RDS configs • Fine-tune IAM roles, policies, and security groups • Set up and fix GitLab CI/CD pipelines (linting, validation, automation) I follow best practices like idempotent infrastructure, version-controlled changes, and zero manual steps unless required. All work will be committed to GitLab with a passing pipeline and clear documentation so you can reproduce everything independently. I’m comfortable collaborating in real-time, including screen-sharing sessions to debug and implement solutions quickly. Happy to start with a small task to demonstrate my approach.

This is very aligned with how I usually work, especially the focus on clean automation and not leaving manual gaps behind. I’m comfortable jumping into existing AWS setups and improving things incrementally, whether that’s refactoring Terraform modules to be cleaner and reusable or debugging Ansible playbooks tied to dynamic inventories. I’ve worked with EC2, S3, and RDS in real environments and understand how small misconfigurations in IAM, lifecycle rules, or pipelines can cause bigger issues downstream, so I tend to approach this hands on and fix things properly while explaining the why behind it. I’m also used to working through Git workflows and CI pipelines, so collaborating live and keeping everything reproducible won’t be a problem. I can be available during your working hours and step in whenever needed.

Hi Client, I’m Sean, a DevOps-focused engineer with 8 years’ experience skilled in Terraform, Ansible, and AWS automation. I’ve delivered idempotent Terraform modules and Ansible playbooks that provision and configure multi-environment EC2 fleets with reproducible, Git-managed pipelines. My skills map directly to your needs: I’ll refactor Terraform modules into reusable HCL, author and debug Ansible playbooks using dynamic inventories, and harden IAM and security groups; I can do this project perfectly and pair-program alongside you during your hours to both teach and take the keyboard when required. I typically deliver this scope in 15 days, including tests and deployment scripts. I follow test-driven automation where feasible, include linting, basic GitLab CI checks, logging/monitoring guidance, OWASP basics for infra security, clean code and inline docs, and notes on secrets handling and access controls. Let’s schedule an initial pairing session to review the estate and prioritise tasks Which AWS region(s) and how many environments (dev/stage/prod) should I expect to work across, and do you have an existing GitLab CI template you want me to follow? Best regards, Sean

Hey, I've spent a lot of time in AWS land (EC2, ECS, RDS, Lambda) wiring up infra and chasing down odd behavior, and the pair style over screen-share you described sounds close to how I already work with teammates. I'm comfortable on Linux/Ubuntu and happy to pick up your existing Terraform modules and Ansible playbooks rather than rewrite them. One quick question: how much of the current HCL is already modularized, or are we mostly untangling monolithic tf files first? I can jump in today if the timing works.
