Job Profile: Apparel Designer – Ballet-Inspired Jumpsuits & Leotards Role Overview We are seeking a visionary Apparel Designer to develop a signature line of jumpsuits and leotards for our ballet brand. These pieces will embody the grace and functionality of balletwear while transcending the studio—designed to move seamlessly from rehearsal to everyday life. The designer will combine artistry, technical expertise, and an eye for fashion to create versatile garments that are equally striking in the dance studio and on the street. Key Responsibilities Design & Concept Development * Create original designs for leotards and jumpsuits that merge classical ballet elegance with modern streetwear aesthetics. * Develop mood boards, sketches, and prototypes that reflect the brand’s identity: graceful, strong, and fashion-forward. * Ensure designs are flattering, functional, and versatile for dance and lifestyle wear. Fabric & Materials * Source high-quality, breathable, stretch fabrics suitable for both performance and all-day wear. * Experiment with textures, finishes, and sustainable materials that enhance comfort, durability, and style. Product Development * Oversee the transition from sketch to final sample, ensuring fit, functionality, and visual impact. * Collaborate with pattern makers and manufacturers to bring designs to life. * Test prototypes for durability, mobility, and aesthetic appeal. Innovation & Versatility * Design garments that adapt easily: a leotard that pairs with jeans, a jumpsuit that moves effortlessly from rehearsal to coffee date. * Integrate thoughtful details such as layering potential, built-in support, or fashion-forward cuts. * **Brand Alignment** * Maintain consistency with the brand’s values of elegance, empowerment, and versatility. * Stay ahead of trends in both balletwear and contemporary fashion to ensure the brand sets—not follows—the standard. Qualifications & Skills * Proven experience in fashion or activewear design with a portfolio showcasing garments that combine form and function. * Strong knowledge of **pattern making, garment construction, and fabric behaviour (especially stretch materials). * Creative eye for blending dance aesthetics with lifestyle fashion**. * Passion for **ballet, movement, and design innovation**. * Ability to work collaboratively with production teams while bringing bold, original ideas to the table. Ideal Candidate * You live at the intersection of style and movement —someone who sees how balletwear can inspire everyday elegance. * You understand the unique needs of dancers yet think beyond tradition, creating fashion that feels as at home in a studio as it does at brunch. * You’re excited to design **signature statement pieces** that embody confidence, grace, and versatility.
