Thermal Balancing and Study Services The Freelancer Service Provider shall carry out a comprehensive thermal balancing study for the proposed 50 MW Gas Engine Power Plant, in support of the EPC tendering process. The purpose of this study is to provide the Owner and prospective EPC Contractors with an accurate and independent assessment of the thermal performance, losses, and recovery potential associated with the gas engine installation under the defined site conditions. Work Requirements Thermal Balance Calculations Perform detailed thermal energy balance of the gas engine(s), including fuel input, electrical output, exhaust heat, jacket water, lube-oil, aftercooler/charge-air cooling, and radiation losses. Incorporate site-specific derating factors for ambient temperature, humidity, altitude, and fuel characteristics. (Assume during the study) Cooling System Analysis Assess thermal loads for radiators/fin-fan coolers, water circuits, and ventilation/HVAC requirements. Define water and air flow rates, heat duties, and cooling surface requirements. Evaluate fan power consumption and efficiency impacts. Exhaust and Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) Quantify exhaust flow, temperature profiles, and recoverable heat potential under non-condensing and optional condensing scenarios. Provide recommendations for WHR integration into auxiliary systems or district heating applications, if applicable. Environmental and Site Conditions Apply correction factors for site climatic and environmental parameters, including high temperature, high humidity, salinity, dust, and pollution exposure. Confirm that the study outcomes reflect realistic long-term operating conditions. Deliverables A detailed Thermal Balance Report containing methodology, assumptions, calculation sheets, and results. Tabulated heat balance diagrams and Sankey charts showing energy flows. Supporting Excel datasheets with editable inputs for sensitivity analyses (ambient, ΔT, efficiency). Executive summary highlighting key findings, risks, and recommendations for EPC Contractor integration. Compliance and Standards Ensure all calculations, methods, and reporting formats align with relevant international standards (e.g., ISO, IEC, ASME) and good engineering practice. Schedule and Coordination Complete the study within the agreed timeframe to support EPC tender submission deadlines. Participate in clarification meetings with the Owner’s team or EPC bidders to explain results, if requested. General Requirements The Freelancer Service Provider shall demonstrate prior experience in thermal performance studies of reciprocating gas engines or equivalent power plant systems. The Freelancer shall use industry-standard tools, software, and calculation methods, ensuring traceability and reproducibility of results. All work shall be performed in English, and deliverables shall be submitted in both editable (Word/Excel) and finalized PDF formats.
