I have a current modification from Lotus Notes 5.0 mail template that doesn't quiet work properly all the time, but it displays the functionality that I'd like. It works like this:
From an Open Message:
a. The agent appears as a button along the top of the active window, along with "New Memo", "Reply", "Forward", etcetera. It's labeled "Save to Project", but I want it called "Save to Folder".
b. When clicked, I am presented with a "Browse for Folder" dialog box (standard windows dialog box). I select a destination folder.
c. At that point, the routine checks for the presence of a "C:tempsavetoproject". If it's there, erase anything that might be in it, if not there, create it.
d. Export the current Notes document to a "txt" file in the "C:tempsavetoproject" folder
e. Detach all attached documents to the same folder. To prevent multiple files with the same name, add the suffix "FileXX-" to the attachment filename, where "XX" is "01", "02", etc...
f. After the files are built and detached, programatically launch WinRAR to bundle everything in the "C:tempsavetoproject" folder into one .RAR file. The name for this file should be generated as:
"R" or "S" to indicate whether the message being acted upon was "Received", or "Sent"
Six digits, indicating the date the message was sent or received
a dash, followed by six digits indicating the time the message was sent or received
a dash, followed by the name of the sender or receiver
and another dash, followed by the subject line from the message being acted upon
So, an example filename generated by this program could be: "R073008-120000-John Smith-Need help with this function.RAR" if I had received a message and archived it using this function.
g. WinRAR actually handles saving the file - it uses the generated filename, added to the selected folder name from "b." above.
From the "Inbox" view, (or the "Sent" view or the "All Documents" view or any standard view)
h. The agent appears as a button along the top of the active window, along with "New Memo", "Reply", "Forward", etcetera.
i. I can select multiple documents with the "check mark" in the first column of the Notes view.
j. After selecting 1 or many documents, I click the agent button and am prompted for a destination folder, as in step "b" above
k. Each document is processed as above in steps "c" through "g". All RAR files are saved into the destination folder selected in "j"
l. Upon completion, all check marks are removed.
Changes I'd like:
a: It's currently labeled "Save to Project", but I want it called "Save to Folder".
b: with my current version I must not choose any folder that contains a "space" character in the foldername. If I do, I get an error indicating I must choose a different folder. I want to be able to use current folder naming conventions.
d: export to RTF instead of TXT format.
h. this button should be disabled unless at least one message is "selected"
l. don't remove the check marks - leave the set selected.
