I'm looking for an experienced translator to translate around two hours of interviews from Russian to English, then transcribe the interviews as caption files that can be viewed and edited in Aegisub.
There will be around 12 to 13 interviews in total, which I'll send via Google Drive or Dropbox.
I'll need this to be done in no more than 5 work days after sending you the files.
In terms of translation, I value both brevity and accuracy, but accuracy is most important. When possible, I prefer to use English words from everyday conversation. Five dollar words taken from a thesaurus are less helpful.
The audio quality from the interviews is good and clear *for the most part*. In a few of the interviews, the audio quality dips for increments of 14 seconds, but is still understandable. Please highlight the *bad* sections with time codes on a separate file.
The Russian will be with various people from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyz Republic.
Aegisub is cross-platform so you can use a either a Mac or Windows machine to create the file. You can find a tutorial here: [login to view URL]
If you are an experienced captioner and prefer using another program, that's totally fine too as long as it exports an .xml or .ass file.
I will want the .ass file so that I can complete and then format the captioning myself.
It would be great if you've had some experience captioning. For best practices, see [login to view URL]
