Morris Jumel Neighborhood Association, Inc. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Neighborhood Association is formed to build civic betterment, community pride, and pool the talents and resources of the residents of the areq bounded by W@est 160th Street and West 162nd Street between Amsterdam and Edgecombe Avenues, including Jumel Terrace and Sylvan Terrace, as well as 555 Edgecombe Avenue, NY, for mutual social and economic benefits through communication and cooperation as neighbors. Its mission will include the promotion of safety and general welfare for the area's residents, as well as the greater Washington Heights are surrounding the Jumel Terrace Historic District.
The Association shall work to preserve and improve the quality of the life, neighborhood beautification and historic preservation of our immediate community which includes the Morris Jumel Mansion, a National and NYC Historic Landmark property, and its surrounding area to perform a range of tasks to beautify the neighborhood and increase safety. Nothing herein shall authorize the corporation to operate or maintain a library, museum, archive or historical society or to own or to hold collections.
The Neighborhood Association will strive to increase civic participation, provide support service for inclusion and outreach efforts to engage diverse constituency groups in our community and have an effective unified voice to address issues that impact the historic area.
