About 5 files are corrupt or broken from a video recording on my GoPro Hero 13 Black. I can see the files using EaseUS data recovery tool, which means they are there. But when I open the folder on the GoPro or my computer, the files are nowhere to be seen. The highlighted files are the ones I need (black polo shirt in the sun with a white Toyota HiLux). Even if the video is broken and the sound can be extracted, that would be great.

Losing five specific clips is stressful, especially when they're not just any footage. The fact that the files are visible in recovery software but invisible everywhere else tells me the index was damaged, not the footage itself, so the priority right now is protecting what's still recoverable before anything is overwritten. Before jumping into recovery, one thing worth clarifying: what is this footage ultimately meant to support? If the video can only be partially restored, audio intact but visuals degraded, or the reverse, knowing whether these clips are the sole record of that moment changes what "successful recovery" actually looks like. This matters because recovering data and recovering usable footage aren't always the same outcome. Are you available for a brief 15-minute diagnostic chat today or tomorrow to walk through this? - Abdul Basit Ali

if EaseUS can still see the files, the data almost certainly isn't gone, it's just that the file allocation table lost track of where they live, or the GoPro's file header got corrupted mid-write. That's a very different (and more fixable) problem than actual data loss. How I'd approach this: Use the files you've already located via EaseUS as the starting point, recover the raw file remnants first rather than starting a fresh scan, since re-scanning risks overwriting fragments. Attempt MP4 container repair using the file structure of a working GoPro Hero 13 recording as a reference template, since GoPro's specific MP4/MOV header structure often allows reconstruction even when Windows/macOS can't read the file normally. If full video reconstruction isn't possible, extract the audio track separately, audio streams are frequently recoverable even when video frame data is too damaged to rebuild, which covers your fallback request. Work only on copies of the recovered files, never the original drive/card, to avoid any risk of further data loss during the process. Can start as soon as you share the 5 flagged files (or the drive/EaseUS scan output directly).

The fact that EaseUS can detect the files is actually a good sign. It usually means the video data still exists, and the issue is more likely related to the file system, missing file headers, or corruption rather than the footage being permanently lost. I'd start by extracting the hidden or corrupted files, then attempt a repair using professional video recovery tools and frame reconstruction techniques. If the footage can't be fully restored, I'll try to recover as much as possible, including the audio track if that's all that's salvageable. Before making any changes, I'll work on copies of the files to ensure the originals remain untouched. I've handled damaged and corrupted video files before and understand that preserving whatever data is recoverable is the priority. Could you tell me whether the files are on the original microSD card or you've already copied them to your computer? Also, if possible, could you share one of the affected files so I can assess the likelihood of a successful recovery?

Hi! I’d be happy to take a look. Since EaseUS can still detect the files, there’s a chance the video data is recoverable. Please send me the recovered files (or the original SD card image if possible), especially the highlighted ones. I’ll analyze them first and see whether the videos can be repaired or, at the very least, whether the audio can be extracted. I can’t guarantee a full recovery until I inspect the files, but I’ll do my best to recover as much content as possible. If you’re happy with that, feel free to send the files, and I’ll get started right away.

Hi there, I can help you recover these 5 specific video files of the white Toyota HiLux. The reason you can see them in EaseUS but not in your normal file explorer is likely due to a corrupted file system index or a fragmented MP4 header, which is very common with GoPro Hero 13 recordings if the camera powers off unexpectedly. Since EaseUS detects the files, the data is intact. I use specialized video structure repair tools (like untrunc and hex editors) that can rebuild the missing index blocks using a working reference file from the same camera settings. Even if the video streams are severely damaged, I will extract the raw AAC audio tracks for you as requested. Let’s jump on a quick chat so you can send over one of the working files from that session as a reference, and we can get started on pulling the data from the corrupted ones right away. Best regards, Solo F.
